I am canceling my cruise on RCCL, in fact I may never cruise again. I might give up going on vacation altogether. Hobiecat01 Posted December 7, 2009 #28 Share Posted December 7, 2009 I will never cruise royal again if they stick me anywhere near1) the person who is miserable over the fact there are no more ship models 2) the person who can not get an extra towel 3) the person who has nothing to do but spell check my critique 4)the person who is cranky who does not feel connected to the sea! I'm sorry but stop nip picking every detail and enjoy your vacation. Some of us have had a rough year. I don't care if I can't get one souvenir, or if I gotta use a napkin to dry off, have a run off sentence or never see the ocean. I will be eating like a pig and drinking like a fish and absolutely loving Oasis on Saturday. Have a great time everyone and see you on board. AMEN!!! ------------------------------ Sea ya! kris4842 Posted December 8, 2009 Author #32 Share Posted December 8, 2009 If they give me 2 olives instead of 3, there will be hell to pay. I'll have to ask off the ship!
ubiquitous Posted December 8, 2009 #33 Share Posted December 8, 2009 That's what the helipad is there for, emergency evacuation of disgruntled guests. Actually though 2 olives is the correct number. :)

ZiggyKeys Posted December 8, 2009 #36 Share Posted December 8, 2009 Yes but wanting 3 olives would make me irrational like wanting 5 towels and a ship model Throw them a curve & ask for large capers instead of the olives. Then by bitching & moaning about no capers you could start a whole thread that I'm sure some people would be more than happy to join. :D
WeLuvVacation Posted December 8, 2009 #37 Share Posted December 8, 2009 Will be on 12/19 when they tell us we have to get off the ship to let the next set of guests come aboard. Otherwise let the FUN and MERRIMENT begin!:D:D As far as I am concerned they could float the ship out into international waters and stop right there. As long as the casino is open and the drinks are flowing and the food is being served and the music and other entertainment is going on a GREAT TIME just has to be had!:D:D:D Of course there are those ports of call which are fun too!!!! Cruising89143 Posted December 8, 2009 #38 Share Posted December 8, 2009 I will cancel if RCI doesn't announce to the world that I'm Diamond and promise to give me all the towels that I want. ;) I expect nothing less.
RicardoC Posted December 8, 2009 #39 Share Posted December 8, 2009 Hahaha SO TRUE!!!! And YES there are a lot of ship models...it is also true that they were sold out twice before the Dec 1 sailing(a crew member told me at the logo store onboard in Dec 1) but they had more delivered in Ft. Lauderdale as soon as possible....so yep people stop complaining....they are just doing their job and trying to figure out how to manage this incredible ship ;):)

Mareng Posted December 14, 2009 #42 Share Posted December 14, 2009 The EXACT same thing ran through my mind. Hey, I understand we shouldn't roll over and take it when RCI takes things away from us & but most of their policy changes have had a minor impact on my experience & I actually think cruising is at a high level right now You have got to be joking! I started working on cruise ships as an officer in the late seventies before coming ashore in the early nineties to work in senior shore side management. I firmly believe that the quality of the product has been eroded continually as more and more nit picking charges have been added and expected services removed to/from the overall experience all in an effort to pull every penny from the guest at every opportunity. When I was a trainee the senior managers of the fleet were either captains or engineers, these days you will find that they are either accountants or ex cruise directors who have a very different perspective on what the is best for the ships. I know certain lines e.g. RCCL have some "superintendents "who have never even actually sailed on any ship in any responsible role so one questions what kind of respect they are able to command from the officers on board. When I was at sea the Superintendent was just to the right of God and any visit by him entailed the staff chief issuing brand new overalls to his team so they would look their best, of course they had to be handed back in after his visit! BigDaddy2002 Posted December 14, 2009 #43 Share Posted December 14, 2009 It's all about expectations. We just returned from the "inaugural" 12/5 cruise. We are Diamond and sailed with 6 other Diamonds, including 4 that were in one of the ships biggest suites. While they definitely had some issues with the concierge, we all understood it was a new ship with a staff that was new to the ship. RCI has also added many, many new venues, experiences, and technologies to this ship that simply don't exist on any other ship. To expect everything to work perfectly is unrealistic. I find it unimaginable that there was a towel issue, based on the uniform experience by all in our group - 2 towels per SeaPass card. Consistent rule. There were lots of ship models. We found it fascinating that you could be in a space as beautiful as Central Park and not necessarily remember you were on a cruise ship. To describe that as a "bad experience" is bizarre. Go upstairs! And to say that the cruise experience has been "eroded" since the late 1970's sounds like someone has a chip on their shoulder. I've only been on 23 cruises since the mid-1990's, but I would have to say the experience has evolved - ESPECIALLY the ships. To compare the Oasis to the Tropicale...well, never mind. Have a blast Kris and all of the rest. You will LOVE the Oasis! Maybe you'll decide to join us on the Allure on 12/12/10!
Mareng Posted December 15, 2009 #44 Share Posted December 15, 2009 And to say that the cruise experience has been "eroded" since the late 1970's sounds like someone has a chip on their shoulder. ! Having been in SENIOR Management of some of the major cruise lines I can empathically assure you that the product especially for the mass ans semi premier market lines (including RCI & Princess) had been significantly eroded. In the early to mid eighties there was no limit on the # of lobster tails you could have at dinner and the level of service was second to none. Admittedly the ships have evolved but that has been driven by the need to compete with shore based vacation venues such as LV and need to replace old tonnage with new ships due to obsolesce and new safety regulations which gave the opportunity for the companies to give their imagination total free reign often at the expense of being able to maintain the ships once in service with the culmination in the present ship ( Oasis which I, as a professional design marine engineer, has some significant engineering interest). But as An MBA holder I question the economics especially as the only yards that can dry dock her are The USN yard in Norfolk VA (normally full of Nimtiz class aircraft carrier undertaking a three year refit so they are out, or her build yard in Turku and maybe the graving dock in St ****er (Aker yards have already indicated that they are purely a new build yard) and have no real interest in doing repair / dry-dock work. So in the event of the first pod issue RCI could be left with some egg on its face.

Do you think his religion permits it as long as it's in the line of duty/job/family income etc. ?? If not , then that would definitely be odd.
