Being dropped-off in Long Beach

Taking the Splendor on the 13th, and our DD is going to drop us off and pick us up this time, instead of parking at the pier. Is there going to be a fee for routing through the drop-off area only? Would we go the same way into the port, keeping to the right for the regular Carnival drop-off area, or would it be better to drop off by the Queen Mary?

Your daughter should go to the regular Carnival drop-off area which is on the dome side of the first floor of the garage, not the QM parking lot since the luggage porters are at the Carnival drop-off and you're much closer to the check-in area and/or dome. There are lots of signs. There is a 30 minute grace time for drop-offs, so she'll have to take a ticket going in, but if she's out within 30 mins, they won't charge her at the exit ticket booths.

Thanks so much for the info, Cathy, I was hoping it was something like that.

Now we just need to decide if she should come up from San Diego at a pre-arranged time on Sunday morning to pick us up, or if we should just call her when we dock, in case we return a little later. We try and be ones of the later ones off the ship anyway, but are trying to juggle lots of different interests:

1.) allow her to sleep in as late as possible, since I'm sure she will be out late on Saturday night ;-)

2) not get too caught up in the main drop-off times for the next departure.

Let her sleep in, and call her when you dock.

It's much, much nicer to her that way.

Also, Splendor has been late the past few weeks - so better to just chill out on the ship and take your time. That way, you're not standing in an unmoving line for who knows how long - and she's not just sitting out in the parking lot waiting for you.

That way, you both win in the timing and relaxing game here.:D
