loves2cruz Posted December 8, 2009 #1 Share Posted December 8, 2009 Can anyone tell me exactly where these water taxis take you from the cruise ship terminal and how often they run? Thanks
gtaylor Posted December 8, 2009 #2 Share Posted December 8, 2009 The water taxis run from the Cruise Facility to downtown Philipsburg, with (currently) two stops there. Bobby's Marina, at the head of town, and The Little Pier, in the middle of the shopping district. There is another water taxi pier completed, but not yet operational, some distance to the West (left) of the Little Pier in this photo. (click) If there is more than one cruise ship in port, the boats run pretty much continually between the stops, at perhaps 10 minute or less intervals, about enough time to unload and reload passengers. gary

I just clicked it and it is a great way to explain the port area and vicinity. A fantastic resource.
jackdiamond Posted December 17, 2009 #4 Share Posted December 17, 2009 Is this the water taxi which takes you to a very nice beach, with chairs etc.? Also, can anyone advise as to the name of the beach; and, is the fare roundtrip etc.
patseacruiser Posted December 17, 2009 #5 Share Posted December 17, 2009 The fare is good all day so you can come and go as you please as long as you have your wristband.
jackdiamond Posted December 18, 2009 #6 Share Posted December 18, 2009 Thank you Pat. By the way does anyone know the name of the beach? If so, how does it compare to Little Divi?
gtaylor Posted December 18, 2009 #7 Share Posted December 18, 2009 The name of the beach is Great Bay Beach. It is a fine beach, very easy for cruisers to get to, with many options for lounging, eating and drinking. The best shopping in the Caribbean (from booze to diamonds) is literally steps away, along Front Street. But we won't go in the water there, as it is subject to pollution. A search of this board will lead you to many discussions of such. gary
