amazon cruise on artemis trips advice

has anyone any advice re doing ones own trips in Manaus, Santarem and

Paratins

Sounds as if we are on the same cruise in Jan 2010.We have booked a ship excursion from Manaus as we have never been before but there is a website that I have just come across 'Manaus Tours' by locals. What they are like I have no idea but I suppose you would expect it tobe Cheaper than P&O.See you up The Amazon got your Mossie Tablets and Yellow Fever Jab ?;)

We were there in March, aboard Artemus. Manuas can be done independantly the ship docks in the city, however we did not hear anything about 'Manaus Tours'. I would recommend staying with P&O for security, a few passengers were mugged in the city, and the info you will receive. From all the ports I strongly recommend going on trips further into the forest on smaller boats, the experience is amazing, the Pirahna fishing is not to be missed.

 

At Santerem or Paratins there is a folklore show, we didn't go as it is not our thing, but those who did thought it was very good.

 

I would go again, the Amazon is an amazing place.
