Snorkeling along Seven Mile Beach?

Hi

We've got a family group of 9, including a toddler and we are looking for a good spot along Seven Mile Beach or nearby to enjoy the beach for the day as well as do a little snorkeling from the shore, with food nearby. We're on a Carnival cruise with just 6 hours in port (so probably not enough time to get to Rum Point easily) - does anyone know a good area along Seven Mile Beach for this sort of thing? We will probably go by taxi.

We went to Royal Palms and there was NOTHING to be seen. I mean ZERO visibility there. Seriously, I was standing right next to my friend and went underwater to see how bad it really was, and I couldn't even see her FEET.

The beach itself was just OK, but I wouldn't count on snorkeling there.
