private boat to St. John?

Has anyone ever hired a private catamaran power boat to take them to St. John? I'm wondering if this would be easier then doing the cab-ferry route. There are 6 of us.

There is a water taxi to St. John (This is not the regular ferry... but a private water taxi; their main location is Red Hook). If you want them to pick you up downtown their rates are $180 for 5 people and then $30 each additional person, one way. http://www.watertaxi-vi.com/

Any suggestions about fishing (either by charter or shore) in St. Thomas. We usually bring our gear with us on the cruise. Appreciate any info. Thanks

People fish from shore at various beaches, including Magens, Mandahl Bay, Hull Bay, Vessup Bay, Bolongo Bay... of course not in the swim area but rather off the rocks along either sides of the bays.
