Beach near Holiday Inn Express

We will be staying at the Holiday Inn Express. Is there a decent beach across the street or will we have to walk or take a cab to a beach?

There are a couple of beaches within easy walking distance. One is located on Condado Lagoon (not far from the HIE) and the other is across Ashford Ave. and connects to the Atlantic. I can't personally speak to swimming conditions at either beach, however. Thre is a pleasant little park along Ashford (you can't miss it if you walk due north from your hotel) that connects to the beach.

We have stayed at the Holiday Inn Express several times and have gone to the beach just beyond the park (across Ashford Ave). This beach has some great surf. Not for kids but some good body surfing. I have even gone to it on a port call when in San Juan. I like it a lot but be careful if not a good swimmer.
