Cab or private car service

We're a group of four that are staying overnight in Fort Lauderdale prior to our cruise. Can a cab get four people and 4 - 5 suitcases to the pier, or should I plan on contacting a limo service ahead of time to make sure we have a large enough vehicle?

Did you check and see if your hotel offers a free shuttle? (or even shuttle for fee?)

Thanks for the responses.

StephenJohnson - When I said limo it was a poor choice of words. I was really referring to a car service where I'd tell them my needs ahead of time. HOw do you go about getting a minivan cab? I'm assuming the hotel should be able to steer me in that direction.

Luckyroot - I'm staying at the Sheraton in Fort Lauderdale. They have a shuttle from the airport to the hotel, but not to the cruiseport.

Two cabs are what you will need. A private car service, like a Town Car, cannot hold that many with all that luggage. Those darn Town Cars, for all their stuff, have very small trunks. Would you believe, we had a limo from the Wyndam in FL to Port Everglades, and four passengers, and they had to call another car because our luggage didn't fit in the limo? We fit just fine, but the limo couldn't hold 8 bags (for our 11 day cruise). You could also try SuperShuttle. They have vans that will hold lots of people and lots of luggage. We use SS all the time to get to the airport in Phoenix.
