Bella,

I have a few more questions re your eastern Med Atlantica trip.

1. Was the currency onboard for the Casino U.S. $ or Euros?

2. Were you able to prebook shore excursions on Costa's web site?

3. Was there a currency machine on board to buy $ for Egypt and Turkey?

4. Do you know if the internet was available in suites? - we have booked an aft Grand Suite and had read that the internet is available in this room cat.

5. Do you know if the Akrotiri was open for touring on Santorini - it was closed for renos last year.

Thanks in advance for any info.

Pebbles99,

I believe we had to buy tokens to use in the casino (at least for the slot machines), and the casino workers accepted both US dollars and Euros for the tokens (and, as an aside, would let you cash American traveler's checks for euros there, which the pursers office would not do for some reason).

I was never able to pre-book my excursions on Costa's website, despite two e-mails to their webmaster (one of which was answered with a "you must log in first) and the second of which was never answered). I know several other passengers were able to do so, however, so it must have been something with my computer. We registered for the excursions as soon as we got on the ship and had absolutely no problem getting our first choices.

As for a currency exchanger for Turkey and Egypt, I don't know if there was one on board or not. However, you'll find that you don't need to change money for either location. We did significant amounts of shopping in Turkey and had no problem using either dollars or Euros (and credit cards, although merchants are less excited about those if you can pay cash). We also did some shopping in Egypt and again, both dollars and Euros worked well, as did credit cards (with some convincing).

I unfortunately don't know the answers to either of your last two questions. We weren't in a suite unfortunately, and we did not make it to Akrotiri, nor did anybody I talked to on our cruise. I'm sorry that I couldn't be of more help to you there.

Don't hesitate to ask if there's anything else I can help you with! :)
