vwgolf Posted December 30, 2009 #1 Share Posted December 30, 2009 Booked our cruise over Christmas on the Thomson Dream - Mediterranean Gems. Bit annoyed to see that I could have got it £81 cheaper if I'd booked today :(. I know the ship is new to Thomson's so people aren't likely to know but I'm wondering if it's worthwhile booking a specific cabin? The website says that the porthole/window may be obstructed by lifeboats but the picture in the brochure indicates otherwise. I'm on deck 5/6. If anybody has been on the ship in its previous life, any tips would be appreciated.
Matt9529 Posted December 30, 2009 #2 Share Posted December 30, 2009 I doubt you would get many replies here on the Thomson Forum, maybe if you head over to the Costa Cruises part and ask there :) Its a suggestion :D Kind Regards Matthew Brown
Cymro1953 Posted December 30, 2009 #3 Share Posted December 30, 2009 Hi, Were on her on 27th April on deck5 outside. Looking at the plans we should be fine. It looks like the lifeboats affect those in cabins on 9. I've been volunteered to report back A.S.A.P. as soon as we've been. :) The only thing is if you're on 5 you will have a porthole and not a window. jojo67 Posted December 30, 2009 #4 Share Posted December 30, 2009 Agree with Berwyn, the lifeboats are on Deck 9 so obstruct some of the deluxe cabins on that deck. This was one of the main reasons we went for an outside plus on Deck 7 & not a deluxe, even though I would have prefered a sofa bed :-(
vwgolf Posted December 30, 2009 Author #5 Share Posted December 30, 2009 Thanks. I phoned Thomson's today and they confirmed that there are no lifebelts obstructing windows/portholes on decks 5 and 6.
tenpin Posted December 30, 2009 #6 Share Posted December 30, 2009 Thanks. I phoned Thomson's today and they confirmed that there are no lifebelts obstructing windows/portholes on decks 5 and 6. If you have cabin number tell me and I'll let you know location. Sailed twice on the Europa and most cabins, even ones with obstructed views are okay, it's only part view. Cabins are slight bigger than Thomsons, but expect far nicer facilities, plenty of deck room, and large theatre, good casino, and fair range of bars and lounges.
