Will the Independents excursion people haggle?

:cool: Hello, I couldn't find the answer to my question when I searched, so Here it goes. I don't want to book with the cruise because they are overpriced. I don't want to book in advance with independents because I am worried we might not make it to the port and I could loose my deposit or worse all my money.

 

I was wondering if anyone has haggled with the independents once arriving in port? and if so, how much did you save?

 

On my last cruise the guy that done my excursion said several people cancelled. So maybe there will be empty spaces. Plus I'd rather give my money to the people on the island's rather than the overpriced ship.

I know I might be limited on what to do because of not booking in advance, but if I can still see ruins and save $$$, then it might be worth it.

I assume you can haggle with them. Surely if they are not governed by having a set price to charge.
