Good Afternoon! We're booked on the Constellation to Canada and New England in September. We've never, ever been to that are and I was wondering if anyone had any great ideas at the ports with this itinerary. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thank you...

Cindy Sue :)

We also are on the Connie for the 22 Sept New England cruise. We did the Transatlantic cruise on the connie last year and it was wonderful. Loved the ship and crew and sailing into NY at dawn was one of the many highlights. What cabin are you in, we're in 9201 (highest numbered cabin on the ship). Its the 3rd time we've had the same cabin on a Millenium ship. We haven't thought to much about ports, though we seldom take ship's tours. We've collected some info on each port via the internet. Feel free to email us at davis0056@aol.com.

Go to "Reviews" and under ships name click on Constellation. Under "members reviews" click on Hank M . This review should pretty much tell you the story. I think Connie is now sailing out of Cape Liberty so ignore the NY part. You will love this cruise.

That's such a nice itinerary. though i don't understand why you go to boston before mv. It's kinda like back tracking. We have been to all of your destinations and they're all fabulous. (Kinda partial to MV cause we live here). for more on mv try mvol.com. for more on boston try boston.com. The pier in boston is kinda far from downtown not really a walk at all. Take a cab or a ducktour those are fun. Bar harbor is lovely, but if you want to go into the park it's all uphill. I wouldn't suggest a bike unless your in fab shape. Halifax has a hop on hop off tour that was nice. There is also a spa in the casino on the harbor and i personally suggest the rock massage. It is much more affordable than on the ship. When we went to Quebec it rained. They have a farmer's market in a building on the harbor that's was wonderful. We bought this delicious strawberry-rhubarb jam and some maple vinegar yum.Well i guess i've ranted long enough. If you have any Qs just ask.

Thank you all for your help. Dave & Elaine, Gary and I will look forward to meeting you. I don't have my cabin number with me, but it's one of the aft balcony cabins, unfortuneatly, not the FV category. We have also been on the Connie and agree it's a wonderful ship. It's the ports that we've never been to, and all this information is greatly appreciated. Thanks for the info on the farmers market in Quebec, that sounds great.

Bon Voyage...

Cindy Sue :)

Go up to the Chateau, in Quebec, and sign-up for the tour of the hotel. Very nice. Several people did the high tea there last year. Bar Harbor and Quebec will be the highlights of your cruise. We took the carriage tour of Quebec and it was a nice overview of the old walled city. We had an aft FV and it was fabulous!!

There's a thread forming in the Celebrity Connections board, too Constellation 9/22/05 - 10/5/05 . Join the group. We have 12 already signed up for the CC party ... almost halfway there. We've heard great things about this itinerary. Looking forward to some great fall foliage shots. Hope it won't be too early for the leaves to turn:cool: .

We did that cruise last year. It is one of my favorite itineraries. In Bar Harbor we took a tour that I checked out on the internet - I think just googled Bar Harbor tours. Anyway it was a bus tour and it was the very same tour that the ship sold but half the price so check that out. In Quebec City the ship docks in Old Town. That whole area is just wonderful to walk around. I would suggest that this is one port that it is mandatory that you eat off the ship. The restaurants are just fantastic. We arranged to have dinner ahead of time because we heard about the food there. I researched the restaurants on the Internet and made a reservation. It was the best meal we have ever had. I think any restaurant in Old Town is great - some just greater than others. At the base of the hill in Old Town is a funnicular that takes you to the top. You can walk up the steps but its more fun to ride. There is a little kiosk at the top that sells tours. I suggest you book one from there because again it is much cheaper than doing it from the ship. I don't know if you go to Sydney or not but if you do the town isn't much but the people are the greatest anywhere. They really go out of their way to welcome everyone and even run free shuttles into the town. (The people use their own cars to do it) They have a nice little market at the dock as well where they sell their own handicrafts etc.

Hope that helps. But again - if nothing else have a meal in Quebec City!!!!!

We too did this cruise on Connie this past October. We wound up doing a walking tour of Quebec, and besides the fact I had to run into a store to get gloves and a hat (one day of freak cold and we got it!), it was really interesting. It was about 2 hours and wasn't too strenuous if that is a concern. The guide was very knowledgeable, and the good part was that he pointed us towards local places to eat that we never would have found had we been just walking around ourselves. We wound up having the most amazing crepes in a very, very local hole in the wall! We saw a good deal of the city and gave us some good ideas for going back into town later in the day (once my hands thawed out!!)

I´ved one this on RCCL last year and it was a great cruise.

In Quebec I can highly recommend the walking tour with horse carriage ride. I liked it very much and I thought that the carriage ride was the best way to see the city. Much better than from a coach.

In St. John I did the Jet Boat Ride through the reversing falls. It´s great fun but be prepared to get soaking wet. So take clothes to change after the ride.

In Bar Harbour I walked ashore and booked a trolley ride at the dock that took me to the same highlights of Acadia NP than the ship tours for much less money.

See the links in my signature for some more informatino on the tours and trips.

In Bar Harbor you'll be tendered to a dock at the end of which is a building with a desk for Oli's Trolleys, which does very nice tours of Acadia National Forest. In Halifax you can take a $15 hop-on, hop-off bus and see just about everything to see in Halifax--other than a ride out to Peggy's Cove. There's also a free bus, called FRED, that makes a loop around the relevant parts of Halifax. If this cruise goes to Portland, there's a really terrific art museum in the heart of downtown, walking distance from the pier, and lots of trendy, eclectic restaurants near the waterfront. A vibrant, lively city.

We're really looking forward to this cruise. It's our first time on an M-class ship, and our first time in an FV.;) We've been to Bar Harbor twice before on land and love the lobster. (cheap too if you know where to get it, but unfortunately too far from the docks :( ) And we love Dimillo's in Portland; it's a converted ferry as a restaurant permanently moored on the harbor.

Here's hoping for early color this year. :)
