scuba dad Posted January 13, 2005 #1 Share Posted January 13, 2005 We have cruised many times, but this is the first time we are having a butler. I am wondering what are some of the things the butler helped you with? What did you use the butler for, both the usual and the unusual?
hrprof Posted January 14, 2005 #2 Share Posted January 14, 2005 We have had butlers on a number of RSSC cruises (they came with the suite) so our expectations were modest. They deliver breakfast each morning and bring an Horsd'oeuvre (sp?) each afternoon. They will make restaurant reservations and insure that your bar is stocked - they will help with the tour desk and generally attend to other miscellaneous requests. As always, the level of service varies with individuals. They have offered to do unpacking, but I would feel a bit silly having them do that! In the larger suites MS and GS, a party for up to 8 is offered - we took advantage of that a couple of times - really nice - bar (with everything) is moved in with bartender along with impressive array of food items - a nice touch. Hey Dad, I assume that you're a diver - have you dived from the Paul Gaugin?
scuba dad Posted January 14, 2005 Author #3 Share Posted January 14, 2005 Hey Dad, I assume that you're a diver - have you dived from the Paul Gaugin? Thanks for the info. I have not dove from PG, YET. That is a trip planned for the future. After all, need something to look forward to.
hrprof Posted January 14, 2005 #4 Share Posted January 14, 2005 We're going to be on the PG in November for 3 weeks - Marquesas + 1 regular itinerary back to back - while far from being a live aboard dive boat, the diving opportunities sound pretty good. It will be the first dive trip we've taken that comes with a butler!
scuba dad Posted January 15, 2005 Author #5 Share Posted January 15, 2005 It should have pretty good diving, but nothing beats a liveaboard for just diving. But that is only if you want to just dive, eat, and sleep.
hrprof Posted January 15, 2005 #6 Share Posted January 15, 2005 It should have pretty good diving, but nothing beats a liveaboard for just diving. But that is only if you want to just dive, eat, and sleep. You've got that right! The old 5 dive a day routine! We've been on more than a few but have eased off a bit as the years have passed - tend to move to land based diving more and more.
