Quincella Posted January 3, 2010 #26 Share Posted January 3, 2010 So we get to keep the card's at the end of the trip? I know I said ill never get one but I went and got a credit card just because like one of the other posters said its a pain to use debit. Anyways do they also hold authorization for the credit cards as well? The phone is more for if there is an emergency at home. I dont plan on making any calls unless I have no other option lol. Just wanted to chime in about the debit card. It's what I use every single cruise for my on board account and have never had a problem. Ever. kitty9 Posted January 3, 2010 #27 Share Posted January 3, 2010 OK, I misread what you were asking on an earlier post. I read your question, AKA the Kalahari one, to mean that they make your debit card your room key card. Ships are totally cashless and everything you purchase on board is paid for with your room key card. The only place you need cash is the casino. For all other purchases, you just give them your room key, they swipe it and you sign a bill. As for the pre-paid cards, since I'm not a vendor on any of the Caribbean/Mexico ports, I have no understanding why they refuse those cards, but after 63 cruises I've learned that those pre-paid Visa cards are virtually useless in most of those ports. They don't give a reason, but that's how they do business. Heck, I've also seen that most don't take the Discovery card---again, why, I don't know. It's just the way they do things. Blongers Posted February 5, 2010 Author #28 Share Posted February 5, 2010 ended up getting http://www.aquapac.net/usstore/belt-case-br-824-1653-0.html for our basic stuff. I didnt get a waterproof case because I found the Canon Powershot D10 so I am getting that waterproof camera instead of a camera and a waterproof case.
