midtownnyc Posted January 8, 2010 #1 Share Posted January 8, 2010 Hi, Just signed up for the Venice to Athens cruise in August 2010. I am wondering about what to wear on formal nights. Are white dinner jackets still acceptable. Also, during the evening hours on formal nights are all the lounges formal? This is my first post so go easy on me : ) Thanks to all DK
duct tape Posted January 8, 2010 #2 Share Posted January 8, 2010 White dinner jackets are just fine, especially in warm climes. Most gentlemen wear tux or dinner jackets. You have a great cruise!
duct tape Posted January 8, 2010 #3 Share Posted January 8, 2010 OOps, forgot. You can dress informally (jacket, no tie) if you are not eating in the DR. Your access to the public spaces is not limited if you are not formally dressed. No casual please, anywhere.

duct tape Posted January 8, 2010 #5 Share Posted January 8, 2010 Bon Voyage! There is nothing in the world to match a few days in Venice!! If you want, give me your e-mail and I will send you some great eats!
V8Babe Posted January 9, 2010 #6 Share Posted January 9, 2010 We sailed on the Whisper, Athens to Venice last September (7 nights). Were expecting two formal nights but only had one - didn't stop us dressing up for the other nights though, as did others. You may want to check if you don't want to take too many clothes. Ages away, I know, but have a fantastic time!
midtownnyc Posted January 9, 2010 Author #7 Share Posted January 9, 2010 It is ages away, but now is the fun part planning and shopping for the trip! Thanks for your response, my partner does not own a tux, but I have a tux and white dinner jacket so am looking forward to getting some use out of it. StevefromOhio Posted January 11, 2010 #8 Share Posted January 11, 2010 This is a high end cruise line and the guests (99%) dress like it. White dinner jackets are seen in the warm seasons (late spring thru summer) Tux at dinner are the norm with jackets and no tie on non formal nights.
