Regatta for extended Pacific season?

News Headlines

At a gourmet lunch in the aptly-named Grand Dining Room aboard Oceania Cruises’ Nautica in Sydney today, Seatrade Insider was told the former R Five will not return at the end of the year for the 2010/11 wave season.

The 30,277gt ship which made her maiden visit to Sydney in January 2008 is currently operating a sell-out trans-Tasman programme. She sails this evening on another round voyage to New Zealand and departs Sydney February 8 on a repositioning voyage to Bangkok.

Over caviar, truffle souffle, lobster risotto and a main course of Black Angus beef with Vidalia onion and sun-dried tomato sauce, followed by chocolate bouchon with passion fruit lava, petit fours and macaroons, Oceania Cruises’ representative in New Zealand, David Bunn, said Regatta may make the company’s next Down Under programme in 2011/12.

Bunn said tentative plans for Regatta's extended season in the Pacific include maiden calls at ports in Tahiti and New Caledonia.

Philippa Baker, Oceania Cruises’ director of sales and marketing Australia, gave journalists at today’s lunch a hot-off-the-press glossy brochure on Marina with details of the flagship’s debut next January.

Baker also told Seatrade Insider that Oceania Cruises’ international sales director, Julie Rose, will return to Australia in March for Cruiseco 2010, the ninth annual convention of the national consortium of cruise specialists which will be held in Canberra.

Seems as though Oceana loves Australasia/Pacific
