Uconnfan Posted January 9, 2010 #1 Share Posted January 9, 2010 hi Does Bernards do tours later. I'm on the Explorer of the Seas and we don't arrive in St.Maarten until 12. I'm waiting on a email back from them, but wondering
GburyCruisers Posted January 17, 2010 #2 Share Posted January 17, 2010 Yes he does and he does a wonderful job. We toured St. Martin-St. Maarten with him on our HAL cruise in March 08 and thoroughly enjoyed him. He took us to Orient Beach, Maho Beach and the Sunset bar and to Marigot. It was great! okbowler Posted January 20, 2010 #3 Share Posted January 20, 2010 Evidently it varies from day to day. I contacted him about a tour in the afternoon as our ship doesn't arrive until 1PM. He would give us a personal tour(our party of 3)for $350, but had no tours leaving that could be shared due to the late arrival of ship. Hope you fare better as he is highly recommended. shortchange1969 Posted January 20, 2010 #4 Share Posted January 20, 2010 We had the same itinerary for St. Maarten when we were on the Explorer this past October. We booked Bernard's tours and the tour was good, but probably would have been better if the ship had arrived earlier in the day. Most stores in Philipsburg close between 5pm and 6:30pm. Although we were given a good tour of the island, we really couldn't spend too much time in one spot because it was us and another couple and we wanted to be able to be dropped off in Philipsburg at the end of the tour to be able to shop. We spent a lot of time in the van. We only spent about a half an hour at Rima's to do some shopping, about a half an hour, 45 minutes at Maho and saw a few planes, one big one, and an hour and a half at Orient. We drove to Marigot but decided to skip it so we could make shopping in town. Bernard was very nice and informative about the island and unfortunately, we got to Philipsburg around 5pm so we really had no time to shop as most of the stores were closing. We took a taxi back to the ship and did some shopping in the stores at the dock that stay open later. We didn't need to be back on the ship until 8:30pm. Like I said, we had a nice time with Bernard, he was very knowledgeable and informative about the island but I think it would have been a better tour if the ship had gotten into SM earlier.
