South Beach Question?

Haven't decided yet but are thinking of flying into Miami or FLL 2 nights pre-cruise. If we fly to MIA, would staying in South Beach be a good idea? Is it expensive and if we rent a car, do you have to pay for parking like in downtown Miami? Are there toll fees and what are they (don't have them here in AZ)?

South Beach is a great destination. Depending on the time of year, it can be extremely expensive, but at other times, you can find some decent deals. If you choose South Beach, do not get a rental car. Parking is sparce and very expensive. Generally, South Beach is more expensive than downtown, but it has a lot more to offer than downtown.
