Hiring Driver

We normally hire a taxi off every island and have them give us a tour. We learned that in Dominica, you should make certain that the taxi van has a sticker on the front windshield and they wear a uniform. The first time we went was last September and our overall waiting time with our 1st driver was almost 2 hours. He would park the taxi a block and a half away from the pier to avoid getting caught. In any event, we met a great driver named Tim. He salvaged our trip that day. I plan on contacting him next time we go so that he can take us to other sights we missed the 1st time due to the bad driver.

If you go across the street from the port, there is a visitor's center in the straw market area. You can also find the legitimate taxi drivers there. We had to wait about 15 minutes for him to find others who wanted to do the same things as us - it was an 8 passenger van.
