We just got back. Ask away! We liked getting a taxi and going to a resort. There are several posts on this board about doing that. Notice the times of arrival. It looks like you are in Acapulco a long time, but not so. You don't arrive until 2pm and the leave at 2 am -- just 12 hours, not 2 days. Sun sets about 5:45, but it is one of the most beautiful sunsets you will ever see. Plan to be somewhere on a beach to take full advantage of it. There are losts of taxis available to take you wherever you might want to go. In Ziahu/Ixtapa you will take a tender from the ship up to the dock. There are a lot of options for beaches there. One, Los Gatos, can be seen from the ship. Didn't go there, but many did and really enjoyed it. Manzanillo is not the best place to take off on foot -- you are in an industrial loading area, but there are lots of taxis there too. On board the ship, not sure what you are loking for, but there are a lot of activities going on. The Spirit is doing a test for a new "Murder Mystery" put on by the staff. It was the most boring thing I have seen on a cruise ship and most people walked out half way through. The hyponist at the evening show is one of the best shows I have seen. Don't miss it. Comedian the first 2 nights isn't funny, but the singer is really good. Afternoon tea at 3:30 everyday was really nice. The "lounge crawl" with the cruise director was lots of fun. Twenty minutes in each and every bar on the ship. Let me know what else you are interested in.

Not sure if the lounge crawl will continue or end with Todd leaving the ship. He was awesome. The Conquest cruisers are lucky to get him !! This cruise was packed with fun. The social staff did a great job even with colds. The entire crew is very friendly. I was not thrilled with Acapulco as were many of the passengers that I talked to. Ixtapa/Zihuatenajo is beautiful. Manzanillo, I took a 7 hr tour inland and learned and saw a lot. Our guide was a former teacher and was excellent.

Hello,We are going on that cruise too.

We have also cruised on Royal and loved every minute of it.Comparing cruise lines is like comparing apple to orange.Everyone will have a different opinion.Since we have cruised on this ship before.I can say it is nice ship to start with Carnival on.It is comparible in size to the voyageur of the seas and a lot bigger then the Visions( we went on to alaska 2001)Which RCCL ship were you on?:D I am looking forward to our cruise on Spirit.and meeting you there. We are in 7303 on the verandha deck.:)

Nice to hear from you folks in Canada. We've sailed with some great people from the north, and looking ahead to doing it again. We've sailed on Vision, Legend, Grandeur, Brilliance, and in June we're going to Alaska on Serenade. We're retired teachers from Oregon, and sail two to three times a year. This will be our first with Carnival. Have always sailed with Royal Crib., and have always been treated great with them. We also will be on the Verandah deck. Hope we get more posts, maybe we can get a Meet and Mingle put together.

That would be awesome.I have posted a roll call several times on the roll call thread but have a had no replies.Maybe we have the ship to our selves( haha). We went on the visions to Alaska a few years ago and had so much fun.We did as much as we could on board and funny thing,if you are running from end to end trying to fit in all they have to offer you lose the wieght you wuld have gained eating all the great food they have on the ship:).

My husband and I are in the Canadian Armed Forces and have had the Honor of sitting with many active and retired military members from the US.Fantasic life stories!

The last time we were on the Spirit( last year) there were so many Canadian Employees on her that this time we decided to bring along some momentos from home for them.We thought of bringing our new poppy coins that they issued this year but alas they only printed one for every Canadian and the mint we sell you them but a 10.00 roll sells for 16.50(they are selling for 40.00 each on ebay)There goes that Idea,so we thought maybe some flag pins or something like that.

we have made some great new friends on the Carnival and are looking for to meeting you and It would be real nice to have a meet and greet. If not we will try and hook up on the board....42 days and counting!!:D

this is sounding more and more like and opportunity for a meet and greet. So anyone know how to get one organized?

We are in our late and mid thirty's.:o I am older then he is and he hates me saying that!!!have any of your party been on the Spirit before?

I'm trying to find out who replaced Todd the old crusie director( that I've heard was really great).Last year it was Micheal but he and his wife are on the Miracle. It would be nice if we had someone new.

I can't wait to go.it is -29C out right now and the wind is howling at 46km.I have no idea what that is in the the old system.

I starting in door tanniing already.Got a real bad case of "sun poisoning" last year in St Martin.Didn't want to get it again this year.

has anyone used the carnival website to book their excursions yet.We did and it is a real convenient way of doing things. Not like the line ups or the TV.

Can't wait to see you all, let's keep this going..:D

Our family of 5 (3 boys ages 20, 17 & 11) are going on the Spirit on 3/25/05. It is our spring break and figured it was a good time to take our boys. We have sailed on Carnival before and loved it. This will be the first time we will have 2 rooms. Any suggestions on excursions while in Mexico? On prior cruises we have done our own thing in ports, but this time with our kids we want fun stuff. We also have a late flight on 4/2 and am trying to figure out what to do with our luggage while we hang around San Diego.

I have heard great things on the boards about going on the Ixtapa Island tour. We actually booked that one.We also booked the beach break in Acapulco. And in manzillo we are going on the Snorkelling tour( I can't snuba dive or scuba dive,No helliox for the tanks, too expensive for them to use).I have decided for safety sake that we would book only on the ship. And that I will only drink things out of a bottle( no beer).Have you gone the the Carnival website to see the excursions and the prices?

We too are a family of five (girls 16 & 13, boy 10) on the 3/25 Spirit. Also from northern California (Livermore). There is a thread in the roll call section of the boards for this cruise. Check it out.

Well now we've got something going...Maxine and Jeff live in Eagle Point, Oregon. We live in the country on about 3 acres and have llamas and horses as our neighbors. Maxine is a retired elementary school teacher in her mid 50's and Jeff is retired from the motion picture industry/teaching. He will be 62 next week. We will be celebrating our anniversay on board the 'Spirit' We have the 5:45 dinner seating and will be staying in cabin 7171. Feel free to drop in when you get on board. Have not made plans for any excursions yet, as the Carnival website is down for maint. We plan to take 2-3 cruises a year, and have enjoyed ourselves on everyone we've taken so far, about 7. We're taking this earlier cruise to avoid spring break, been there, done that. Let's all keep in touch.

Isn't that interesting,We are on the same deck.We also booked our cruise early because last year we had booked for the 14 of march and ran right into Spring breakers. They made things very interesting when it came to the Jolly Roger( bad choice on our part, for the younger crowd) a lot of very drunk kids:eek: .

We have the early sitting as well,we find that if you do the alte one by the time you finish dinner and then go to the show you are to tired to do anything else. But this way you can take in the casino or the R rated comedian,or even sit out and watch the stars.

We live smack dab under a flight path going to Winnipeg International Airport but with the renovations to the house you can't hear a thing. We will be wearing something Canadian on the first day.Not obvious but it is really nice to bump into people on the boat from Canada,be it that they are employed there or just getting out of the minus temperatures like we are.

We are celebrating our Anniversary early( not till July14) but we maybe in the middle of a forced posting in July( I hope it is some place warm).

Currently I am with the Corps of Commisionaires( a bunch of retired Military personel with Special constable status)But I also to Private Investigations work on the side called Skip tracing.Where I find people that have been willed estates and money from deceased relatives that they may have not even known( I love the happy stuff:D ).My DH is still in the military he works on refuellig the aircrafts, even the US send us some planes once in awhile.Alot of the Pilots from your way come up here to go to our Nav School to learn to fly, along with the Aussies and the Kiwi's.Always nice to see them.Besides I think the US uniforms are much sharper then ours:cool: .

I am so looking foward to meeting you both.Keep trying to book your excursions it really does help.We had to book ours on the TV last year and there is a good chance of not getting the ones you want.If you can't get them that way try calling Carnival and ask for the excursions dept. They can set you up from there.

Are you flying direct or staying the night in a hotel when you first get there? we were lucky enough that we fly out that Morning(6:45 our time) and get in 10:48 Sandiego time.We also leave the same daywe dock, saves on hotels. But to treat my kids and my DH we will saty in a nice hotel here and get them all over to go swimming in the pool.( all boys 17,14 and premie is 8yrs).

Oh I am so excited I can't wait!!!:D
