No it is not true but the MDR is not open for lunch while boarding

Not true - at least on ships that are supposed to depart before the dinner hour. Which is most of them. San Juan cruises seem to leave late (10PMish), so that may be special case. On all of my cruises, we have dined in MDR on first night. All from either Miami or Tampa.

We have sailed from San Juan and still had dinner in the MDR. I think someone was pulling your leg, lol.

The only reason for no dinner in mdr would be a delay with very late boarding.

I think some cruises have lunch and dinner in the MDR the first day...it's come as you are because some people have not received their luggage yet...Dennis
