Atlantis resort in Nassau

I was looking at excursions to Atlantis through Carnival and I could not find one that includes the water park. Is this a separate expense? Does anyone know how much? I was reading about reserving a room at the Comfort Inn across the street gives you access to everything at Atlantis. The only problem is that we have 5 in our group. It says we need 2 rooms, so I'm not sure if this would be cheaper for us. Did those who rented the room at the Comfort Inn take a cab there?

Thanks!

Here's a listing with all the details and prices. As for whether it's worth it.. it's up to you. The aquarium is nice, but not the greatest. Gambling age is 18 and they are pretty strict. She may be able to get away with it if she looks older, but she may also be asked for ID just to be in the casino.

Be aware, that she cannot WIN. If she wins any decent amount, she'll need to show ID, you can't just say it was your win, there are eyes, (and cameras) everywhere.

Hey, I asked this question a few days ago and apparently nobody either knows the answer or wants to take the time to answer, so I thought I'd ask it again -- how does the Atlantis beach compare with Cable Beach, Cabbage Beach, and others mentioned in this thread? Is there a public beach near it?

If you are a guest of Atlantis, you can use all of their beaches. The MAIN beach at Cabbage Beach, the Cove,(which is calmer) and paradise Beach which is inside the breakwater. You can also use the manmade lagoon as well.

Depending on the season. The Main beach at Atlantis can be very rough, and it is closed often. (this stand true for the public beach just east of Atlantis (cabbage Beach). In the summer months, it's rolling wave, but still a bit of a drop off.. and undertown..

If you get a beach pass from atlantis, you are only allowed to use the Main beach .. a roped off area at that.. you may as well just use the public beach.. it's the same beach.. Just that you ge a chaise at Atlantis.. and you can say you were at Atlantis beach. ( and you can use the restroom of course)

As for Cable Beach.. it's much calmer. It's located in open water, but within a reef system, so even in windy weather, you'll be more rolling waves that crashing waves, and no undertow (which is prevelant at Atlantis beach, since it's open water with not reef protection).

The Hilton and Junkanoon (lighthouse beach ) are in the inner harbour which is protected by the island as well as a breakwater. you won't find rough waters at these beaches.

So I just need to email them? Does the rate change according to the times of year that it is? What about if the resort is full, do you know if they will give a day pass?

The general rates haven't changes, sometimes there are specials on the dolphin cay. if the resort is full (holidays, special event's, spring break) then they stop selling day passes. It's based on the occupancy levels of the day.

Scubagirl, I think you gave out a way to see if Atlantis was full a long time ago when I was asking about tickets. Do you still have that site? Thanks...

Also We are going to Nassau at end of February, how is the weather at that time usually? Plan to swim and beach it or not? We live in South Carolina so don't like it too cold....

Don't remember a site that would give this info. I might just be getting senile.

You can check the website for special events, tournaments, concerts etc. Those are the date that are usually sold out.

These day's the occupancy rate really isn't the problem. It's the fact that occupancy, plus the number of ships, plus time of year (spring break, mid summer, holiday) would make the differenct.

End of Feb should be ok for getting passes. Weather is iffy. We had a long spell of cold weather which chilled the water a bit. I probably won't be swimming again til april, but that's just me. I like bathwater.

You should be able to get in the water, but if you are diving or want to stay in for an extended stay (snorkeling etc), i'd opt for a wetsuit.

Scubagirl, Thanks for the info, and no, not you, it is probably me being senile as I turned 50 last month! We are all going on this cruise to celebrate all the college roomies turning 50! Such fun, watch out Bahamas!

Maybe it was just the Atlantis site with the special events... I will check again too.

Also, we are bathwater people to so I think we will just wait and see what the weather brings before we decide what to do...

thanks again you are always sooo helpful and we appreciate all of it!!!!

We did the Atlantis Beach Day Excursion through Carnival while in Nassau last week and have to say that I wouldn't do it again.

I would definitely go back to Atlantis and pay a fee to enter but we wasted so much time waiting for the Atlantis shuttle to take us over (we arrived at 11:00 didn't leave for Atlantis until at least 12:30) and the last shuttle back leaves at 5:30.

By the time we arrived and were "herded" to the location of beach we were to use it was almost 1:30. Too much time waiting around and wasted.

Once we broke free and started exploring on our own, I forgot all about being irritated. It was gorgeous. I'm going back next year. However, I'll find my own transportation the next time.

Hi there. Wanted to chime in, just incase some of this is helpful. Just returned from the 3 day Cruise to the Bahamas from Miami on the Imagination.

After much reading I decided to book a room at the Comfort Inn to get the passes to the Atlantis. There were 2 adults and 2 teenagers total.

All in all I'm not sure how much money we saved by doing it this way. The room rate was $269 per night. By the time they tacked on $20 for the maid tip and the 2 crazy high taxes they have, I think my bill was somewhere around $320. Tack on the taxi fare (of $17, well might as well say $20) each way, now we're up to $360. So all in all I did save about $120. (Carnival's price was $120 per person) Wow, I feel better it's the first time I did the math. :)

Anyway, the reason I did it this way (aside from the money) was mostly for 2 reasons. The description on the excursion from Carnival seemed like it was planned out a little. Wait in line for bus with lots of others, tour the grounds, etc., etc. I knew since the boat did not dock until 10 a.m. ish that we were limited for time in the sun that day. My youngest son is in the autism spectrum and once he wants to do something (play on the water slides, etc.) that tour would have been brutal for him (and us and anyone w/i hearing distance). SO! I wanted to maximize our time in the water that day by going on our own.

The other reason I did it this way was because I read somewhere that sometimes they run out of passes. I wanted to make sure that didn't happen. On a 3 day cruise it was our only port of call and we all really wanted to go to the water park on the Atlantis. So by booking the room I knew that we were guaranteed to have passes.

So on to the room. Very easy! Take a cab to the comfort suites, check in to your room. The room may possibly not be ready but you will have your passes. You will need to take the passes to the towel hut at the Atlantis. The Comfort Suites is really so close to the ENTRANCE to the Atlantis you can just walk, that part was quick. But it's a long walk to the water park/beach from there. But I don't see any way around it. Even if you took a cab to the Atlantis I believe they will drop you off at the front and you will be walking a ways.

Once you show your passes at the towel hut they will give you your bracelets. The whole family needs to be there, they won't just hand them to you they put them on you.

Towels are free to borrow. They don't track it at all. Need a towel walk up to the hut and they give it to you. Get it dirty or someone swipes it, no worries, get another one.

There are lockers there, $10 for a large one. In January anyway, the key is due back by 4:30 sharp. The park/pool/beach area closed by 5 p.m.

We left the ship as soon as we could, once off the ship we walked to a cab and went right to the Atlantis. We checked into the room and then walked to the towel hut to get passes. Then we got a locker and changed into our suits. Even though the boat docked at 10 a.m. by this time it was probably Noon. Or maybe 12:30. So this was my concern. If we took the tour by the time we got into the water it probably would have been much later and that would have really cut into our play time.

Also the ship is so far away at this point it's not going to be worth it (to us anyway it wasn't) to go back to the ship for a meal. We really thought maybe we would take a cab back to the ship for a late lunch and then return to the Atlantis. It's not practical it takes so much to get there.

So hopefully if someone is researching this for their upcoming trip I have helped answer some questions.

Oh, and if you see any buy the Bacardi Pina Colada Rum cake! Delish!

Duckie, I totally agree with you. There's no reason to buy the ship's excursion. We did it on our own - got off the ship when we felt like it, took the water taxi, bought our tickets at Atlantis, got a map and spent the day exploring, then came back when we wanted.

I don't think it's any cheaper to do it on your own but you don't waste time getting herded around with a crowd.
