HappierCampers Posted January 16, 2010 #1 Share Posted January 16, 2010 The Cayo Levantado Beach Escape is offered by NCL. Has anyone been?
Friscorays Posted January 16, 2010 #2 Share Posted January 16, 2010 I recently spent a day on that beach, but not through NCL. It is a very nice relaxing beach day. Reasonably priced food and drink are available as well as restrooms, massages and some trinkets. If you enjoy spending the day at the beach, it is highly recommended. next trip? Posted January 17, 2010 #4 Share Posted January 17, 2010 We are sailing on the Eurodam (HAL) and Cayo Levantado is not offered as a shore excursion. Will we be able to get there on our own? How difficult will it be to get a taxi or some transportation there. How far away is it from the ships pier? Thank you very much for your help. next trip? Friscorays Posted January 17, 2010 #5 Share Posted January 17, 2010 Looks great anywhere for snorkling? I like to snorkel but had heard that there was not much in the way of snorkeling at Cayo Leventado so did not give it a try here. We are sailing on the Eurodam (HAL) and Cayo Levantado is not offered as a shore excursion. Will we be able to get there on our own? How difficult will it be to get a taxi or some transportation there. How far away is it from the ships pier?Thank you very much for your help. next trip? If you are tendering to Samana, Cayo Leventado can only be reached by boat as it is on a small island. It is probably a 20-30 minute boat ride each way. I know that locals will provide the service but I do not know how much it costs or how reliable they are as far as getting you back at the end of the day. We had actually booked the Casa Dorado day trip to Playa Rincon (a "famous" beach in the Dominican Republic) departing from Samana but had to cancel as the cruise ship we were on would not tender us to Samana. You might want to look into that trip. There is a lot of info here and their web site is: http://www.casadoradodr.com/excursions.php It costs $260 for up to seven people and $300 for ten people (including taxi). We got a group together without much trouble through our Roll Call.
next trip? Posted January 18, 2010 #6 Share Posted January 18, 2010 Thanks Friscorays for your information. I will look into the beach that you mentioned. I think it is one of our shore excursions on the Eurodam. Thanks for your help. next trip?

EnsignPulver Posted January 26, 2010 #8 Share Posted January 26, 2010 The Cayo Levantado Beach Escape is offered by NCL. Has anyone been? I was on the Pearl last week and did this excursion. I thought the beach was very nice, lots of chairs available, drinks were fairly inexpensive and the locals that worked the beach were very nice. They ask yu if you wanted something and if you said no they just move on. All in all a very nice beach day.
cruizinrican Posted January 26, 2010 #9 Share Posted January 26, 2010 I was thinking about visiting Cayo Levantado too through NCL. Great pictures and great reviews. Thank you everyone!
tiggerfan616 Posted January 31, 2010 #10 Share Posted January 31, 2010 We did Cayo last week and it was ok. Yes the beach is clean and there are plenty of chairs available but the food was horrbile and the ride over was very rough, infact myself and dh and a few others got soaked because of the waves and strong winds that day. Luckily we had our bathing suits on anyway so it was no big deal.
