hi, has anyone done this holland america (volendam) ships tour out of napier new zealand and if you did can you remember what type of vehicle they used and was it comfortable? were the off road areas very bumpy or was it ok?

Yes, I did this in October 08, best excursion I have ever taken. In the fall there were thousands of birds that could be observed very close up. The ride out is not terrible, but it is a little bumpy. They use kind of a four wheel minibus vehicle stopping at a fantastic outlook before going out to the very tip. If it's a nice day, and ours was crystal clear, the view is worth the cost of the trip.

 

If you like animals and you like dramatic scenery this is the excursion for you.
