Grand Cayman Blow Holes??????

We are thinking of the Island Highlights Tour which is 2 1/2 hrs and $75.00 per couple. It takes in Bodden Town, viewing pirates cave and tombs, drive through Breakers to East End where we will watch the Blow Holes and then see the wreck of the ten sails and to the district of Old Man Bay and shopping at port.

Are the Blow Holes spectacular how high does the water spew up???? Any information will be helpful. We've been here before and done Sting Ray city which was a blast.

Thanks

The blow holes are kind of cool, but the height of the water spout depends a lot on the waves...strong waves equals higher spouts. Pretty much impossible to predict ahead of time what you'll see that day...sorry.

The pirate caves are a somewhat cheesy tourist attraction...great if you're taking kids or are extremely young at heart. :D They also require being able to climb a ladder (steep stairs?) down into the best of the caves. There's a mediocre to average petting zoo, and signs on the trees and plant life identifying local plants. They are definitely NOT a serious historical site, so if that's why it appeals to you, you might want to reassess...

It is a nice drive around the island, and you'll see lots of interesting things as you pass by, and lots of great scenery. We do that trip around East End once a trip, just to see the sights (but I wouldn't pay to see the pirate caves a second time).

For same money you could easily rent a car and drive out to the east end yourself.

- skip the pirate caves

- blow holes are okay but not a real attraction

- wreck of the ten sails really is much to see, it's out on the reef and there's not a whole lot left of it

The drive around the island, particularly out to East end, is quite nice and well worth it. You can tour all the way around to Rum Point, grab a bite to eat there, soak up some rays (sun not sting) and then head back to town (you can take Frank Sound Road for a quicker return). You'll pass the Botanic gardens which aren't bad if you've got extra time.

I think that would be a better value and a nicer day IMO.
