gehrandt Posted January 20, 2010 #1 Share Posted January 20, 2010 We will be on the Star in March. What types of food do they serve in the Market Cafe? Do they serve cookies and munchies throughout the day? I'm always looking for a chocolate chip cookie - or chocolate of any sort - day or night. rsohn65820 Posted January 20, 2010 #2 Share Posted January 20, 2010 The Market Cafe does usually have some munchies during the day. We headed there several times a day for chocolate chip cookies. Some times they didn't have chocolate chip they only had oatmeal. It seemed like the later in the cruise the harder it was to find Chocolate chip. They also have soft serve ice cream. From noon to five they had ice cream cones in an area between the Market Cafe and the childrens pool area on deck twelve.
bakerintn Posted January 20, 2010 #3 Share Posted January 20, 2010 I have not been on the Star, but it should be like the other NCL ships.....They serve darn near anything you could imagine, but of course it changes from breakfast to lunch to dinner. Salad Bar...cheese and bread...pizza...burgers / hot dogs / fries ....pasta....indian...roasted meats....cold cuts...ready made sandwiches...cooked vegetables and starches...all kinds of breakfast items...fresh fruit....and more. Look for the cookies in the dessert section...often the cookie plate will be empty!!
swedish weave Posted January 20, 2010 #4 Share Posted January 20, 2010 When you find the cookies you like, take some to your cabin to munch on later. They also have them at the blue lagoon sometimes.
zimmerjulie Posted January 20, 2010 #5 Share Posted January 20, 2010 Yum, NCL cookies. Sometimes I get really lucky and they are not as browned as usual...I do love a chewy cookie. They usually have 3 kinds, oatmeal chocolate chip, white chocolate macadamia nut, and I can't remember the 3rd (I never make it past those first two). Brownies are also a main staple of the dessert buffet. Since you mentioned chocolate, last spring they had a chocolate fountain each night, into which you could dip fruit and/or sponge cake and/or in my case, white chocolate macadamia nut cookies :D. While we're on the subject of chocolate, for me the #1 BEST chocolate treats on the ship are the chocolate croissants on the breakfast buffet. Small and unassuming, but oh so yummy. Hence the reason why they run out of chocolate chip cookies toward the end of the cruise...LOL :D

rsohn65820 Posted January 20, 2010 #9 Share Posted January 20, 2010 Delicious salads! Oh Yes I loved the salads and the fresh fruit. It did seem like the salad dressing was a little bit watered down, kind of thin and runny.
