Dolphin Cove Ocho Rios on your own?

Has anyone ever just taken a cab to Dolphin Cove in Ocho Rios? We aren't interested in the falls, or the Plantation, just want to see the park and beach at Dolphin Cove....so really don't want to pay for half an excusion that we don't want to do.

How far from the port is it anyway????
