Jeafl Posted January 22, 2010 #1 Share Posted January 22, 2010 My daughter will have just turned 21 on our cruise and is dying to go to the casino. As a college student though, she doesn't have a lot of spare money to lose. Therefore, she was wondering if they had any cheap slots to play just for fun. The ship is the Liberty, if that makes any difference.

Colorado Kat Posted January 22, 2010 #3 Share Posted January 22, 2010 Yes - penny and nickle - they're fun to play.
bumbles Posted January 22, 2010 #4 Share Posted January 22, 2010 Yes, there are 1, 2 and 5 cent machines. Sometimes they are multi-denominational and you have to make sure you're on the right denomination before you play...might make a 30 cent play into a $1.50 play. Also, sometimes the 'repeat bet' button is right next to the 'max bet' button...just make her aware... Have fun!!
yogi2929 Posted January 22, 2010 #5 Share Posted January 22, 2010 The penny/nickle slots are multiline slots. I have seen 9 and 20 line slots on the ships I've been on. I now you didn't ask but the receipts for the "Signature" cocktails will get her a $5 match play coupon for the tables.
tamirpr Posted January 22, 2010 #6 Share Posted January 22, 2010 Yes, penny slots. I played the penny slots and right quickly won 500. I started hollering for my husband. When he came over he busted out laughing at me and said, "You do realize that is only five dollars?" :D
LemurCat Posted January 22, 2010 #7 Share Posted January 22, 2010 Don't forget to check to see if you can change the denomination between pennys and nickels.

mebecindi Posted January 22, 2010 #10 Share Posted January 22, 2010 Yes, penny slots. I played the penny slots and right quickly won 500. I started hollering for my husband. When he came over he busted out laughing at me and said, "You do realize that is only five dollars?" :D That is too funny. One time in Vegas I was playing nickel slots and i had put in a few dollars. All of a sudden the lights started flashing and the bells started ringing. I was jumping up and down hollering cuz the nickels came pouring out. I filled up several buckets with nickels and when i took it to the cashier, it added up to be......$54.35. Was my face red....lol

Elaine515 Posted January 22, 2010 #12 Share Posted January 22, 2010 So now that you know they do have penny and nickle machines, please also let your daughter be aware that in order to have a shot of winning, the minimum she can play is .09 a spin... That is for the 9 line penny machines. There are also penny machines that can play out on 20 different lines and those are a minimum of .20 each spin... Check out the machine first or definitely tell your daughter to have one of the Casino Staff help set her up to play all the lines... Then, just like the above poster stated...keep hitting the repeat button, don't move because you can accidentally hit the Maximim Play button!!! Here's to beginners luck and Happy 21st Birthday for your daughter..

gargoyle999 Posted January 23, 2010 #15 Share Posted January 23, 2010 Start with hedged bets in roulette and go from there. ;) Hmmm...I wonder if that's like the hardest thing to win at rather than the easiest. :o

thunderbayboy Posted January 23, 2010 #17 Share Posted January 23, 2010 All I play are the penny slots and I do ok on them. Over my cruise on the Splendor in October, I accumulated over $150 in winnings which I put onto my SS account. My favourite penny slots are the Hot Hot Penny machines...WAY fun and people seemed to hit the bonus a lot.
vacruizer Posted January 23, 2010 #18 Share Posted January 23, 2010 Let her know also that the machines take dollar bills to play with. My daughter thought they actually took penny's and nickles. I did the same thing on our first cruise. :o We don't have casinos here in VA and I'd never seen a slot machine prior to our first cruise. I rolled pennies, nickels and dimes for months before the cruise. My carryon shoulder bag weighed a TON with about $50 or $60 worth of rolled change. We get to the airport and they pull me aside at security to do a hand search of my bag. The TSA agent was a nice older gentleman who got to the rolled change and asked why I was bringing all that rolled changed. "That's my slot machine money for the casino" I said. He just looked at me, laughed, and said, "Honey, don't you know those machines take dollar bills?" :o Well, no, obviously I didn't know. :o
