lindasuej Posted January 24, 2010 #5 Share Posted January 24, 2010 I am bringing my grandson who is 11 on my March sailing. He is very tall for his age 5"8" and looks much older. He does not own a suit. Would he be able to pass with a dress shirt and tie or do I have to buy him a suit? Linda
klmorg Posted January 24, 2010 #6 Share Posted January 24, 2010 Yes, the Legend leaves on Sundays, and elegant nights were on the first Fun Day at Sea (Monday) & after Roatan (Friday).

Your grandson won't have a problem as long as he has on slacks and a dress shirt. I wore a suit and tie to first dress night and was in the minority. Most people at least looked nice (no jeans), but only half the men had ties on. Formal nights were Monday and Friday.
zqvol Posted January 24, 2010 #8 Share Posted January 24, 2010 Which nights are "formal" on Legend, western Caribbean out of Tampa? The past two summers, and I suspect that it has not changed, "formal" nights are Monday (1st sea day) and Friday (Roatan day).

With a tie he will be better dressed than a large number of people. The only reason you would want to buy a suit would be for the pictures. tcs1366 Posted January 28, 2010 #12 Share Posted January 28, 2010 DW and I were on the Legend in December. Your grandson won't have a problem as long as he has on slacks and a dress shirt. I wore a suit and tie to first dress night and was in the minority. Most people at least looked nice (no jeans), but only half the men had ties on. Formal nights were Monday and Friday. This is good to hear. our last cruise we were on the Glory. We did see some 'not dressed up' and DH was in a tux [he did that for me] and said he was so uncomfortable, and was not doing that again. This year / next month, we will be on the Legend and most of the guys were not planning on bringing suit coats, just slacks and nice shirts. I actually recall seeing a guy - mid 30's maybe at the second formal night in jean shorts. Most were dressing causal, maybe 25% formal. I still havent figured what i'm bringng yet... Sistrchk Posted February 14, 2010 #17 Share Posted February 14, 2010 Are the extended balcony rooms worth the little extra money? There will be two adults and two teenagers in our room. Any other hints about the legend will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
KimtheCruiser Posted February 14, 2010 #18 Share Posted February 14, 2010 Where did you go in Cozumel? Pictures were great. Thanks for sharing! We did the Mexican Cooking Excursion at Playa Mia Beach Park - I've done it 3 times and loved it! This was the first time for DH - he joked with Luis, the chef - Luis is a flirt, and that's why there's one picture of my DH pretending to choke him!
