kandlwed Posted January 25, 2010 #1 Share Posted January 25, 2010 We just got off the Splendor a few hours ago. This was our first time on Carnival after being on RCCL, Princess and NCL in the past. I was pleasantly surprised with Carnival. The ship was beautiful and the food was great!! The only thing we found that was lacking a bit was the entertainment. The cruise was great...although on the way back, coming out of Cabo we ran into weather and the ship was rocking bad the rest of the day and for the final sea day. I was fine, but there were quite a few sick people. It also brought us back to Long Beach about a hour late. No biggie for us...it was an adventure and we got to stay on the ship longer. ;-) We will for sure sail on Carnival again! In fact we are in June on Freedom!! :-)

wizard-of-roz Posted January 25, 2010 #5 Share Posted January 25, 2010 We got off the Splendor the week before you and really liked it. We purchased some FCC's and will be doing her again sometime in the next few years. We liked the entertainment but did find them a bit "flat" at times. We only had an issue with the "Tea Time", it left a lot to be desired. No brewed tea; no true scones; no jelly or cream. The bisquits they offered were tasteless and were filled with whipped cream.....not very good. We did enjoy the piano player. We like "Tea Time" and enjoy that relaxed and special time onboard a cruise ship. HAL and Princess have this down pat. Thank you for sharing your experience. CaliforniaDreamer Posted January 25, 2010 #6 Share Posted January 25, 2010 Can you be specific about the entertainment and comedians on board? No matter what Carnival ship or what destination, i seem to see the same recycled entertainment. So curious about Splendor as i am thinking of booking for Dec

On the Conquest it was in a quiet room and although there were no scones, and the tea was bags, the cakes they offered were quite good. Is the afternoon "tea" in the dining room as I have read? And is it at least a pleasant interlude or just really disappointing?
kandlwed Posted January 25, 2010 Author #8 Share Posted January 25, 2010 Glad you had a great time. Did you participate in any water activities? If so how warm was the water? I did get in the pool up by the waterslide and it was cool at first, but then was perfect!!!

No matter what Carnival ship or what destination, i seem to see the same recycled entertainment. So curious about Splendor as i am thinking of booking for Dec Well, the last 2 nights they were cancelled due to the rocking of the ship...the first 2 nights they were the review shows which we really don't enjoy. The 3rd night was a juggler/comedian, he was pretty funny and then a preview of the comedian that would do an R rated show the next night...he was funny and pretty raunchy. We really liked the piano player in the main lobby. My SIL said the guy singing in the casino was horrible, although I never heard him. All in all, from what we saw, the entertainment was not bad, but as the OP said, it was flat.

Yes, they had some small sandwiches and cookies [they were pretty good] but, we love scones and were disappointed at what they were offering!
