Interrogation Room Posted January 31, 2010 #1 Share Posted January 31, 2010 Just booked my first cruise ever Yippee! I will be on the Carnival Victory on Sunday June 20, 2010. Does anybody know a hotel near the port in Puerto Rico so we can stay at the day before we get on the ship?
CWcruisers Posted January 31, 2010 #2 Share Posted January 31, 2010 The Sheraton in Old San Juan is right across the street. You can walk to the port the next morning. I'm not saying it's cheap, but it is convienent. I used my Thank You points to book it. Enjoy your first cruise.

ginal Posted January 31, 2010 #5 Share Posted January 31, 2010 We will be on the same cruise...a roll call has been started. We are staying at the Embassy Suites the night before... Can't wait to get on the boat.
CruiseLover824 Posted January 31, 2010 #6 Share Posted January 31, 2010 Check out the Radisson Ambassador. It's in Condado, which is about 5 or so miles down the road. We have a room booked there for under $200. When I checked the Sheraton out, the rooms were double that price.
ginal Posted January 31, 2010 #7 Share Posted January 31, 2010 We booked the Embassy Suites out near the airport for the night before. Manager's reception, breakfast, nice pool area, Walgreens around the corner, grocery store 3 blks away, casino.
Relayer Posted February 1, 2010 #8 Share Posted February 1, 2010 Just booked my first cruise ever Yippee! I will be on the Carnival Victory on Sunday June 20, 2010. Does anybody know a hotel near the port in Puerto Rico so we can stay at the day before we get on the ship? Check out the Condado Plaza Hotel. Very nice and about 15 minutes from port. Great rooms, beautiful location and a superb casino.
MJKIERNAN Posted February 1, 2010 #9 Share Posted February 1, 2010 We looked at many hotels, but Howard Johnsons appears to be just fine. And perfect location too
janabm81 Posted February 2, 2010 #10 Share Posted February 2, 2010 We'll be on the same cruise....we booked the Sheraton on hotwire for 100.00. It's our favorite hotel in San Juan because it's right across from the pier and Old San Juan is awesome.:D
tntheresa Posted February 2, 2010 #11 Share Posted February 2, 2010 If you have a full day to enjoy it book at the Intercontintal. It's probably 10-15 away from the pier but it is really nice. The pool was amazing and it's right on the beach. They have a GREAT little casual restaurant/bar right on the water where you can have your feet in the sand while you eat. It's not cheap but I have a young daughter and the pool was worth it for her. They also have some fancy restaurants also and a casino. There are places like Burger King right down the street if you want something easy and cheaper. The nice thing about this place it's only 5 minutes from the hotel so you get your bags at the airport and five minutes later you are at your hotel. VERY nice place. I think my room was $179. sunseeker09 Posted February 2, 2010 #12 Share Posted February 2, 2010 We stayed in the Holiday Inn Express in Condado before our cruise. It was nothing fancy, but clean and in a good location close to shops (Walgreens, liquor store), restaurants, and a decent beach (about a block or so away). Sure, it's not in Old San Juan, but when we checked out in the morning it was a short cab ride to the pier where after embarking you can get back off and explore OSJ and the forts. We found the Sheraton was booked up already 6 months ahead of time (Jan - high season) and too pricey, and when we found out the Howard Johnson doesn't have windows in the (tiny) rooms... NO thanks! More convenient to stay in Condado and cab over to OSJ and the pier. On our last night (post BVI), we stayed at the La Concha, which we got for $101 when I realized Priceline was a great way to go. We were upgraded to an ocean view room. It was large, modern, comfortable and a fabulous view. The hotel is right on the beach and has a few pools. Very nice. One of the best hotels we've stayed at in a long time.
