On the Splendor this past Oct. I didn't need to bring any toiletries. There was a basket full of everything I needed including razors. I am not planning on bringing anything but my toothbrush and a little makeup. I hope the Miracle has the same basket! There was a hair dryer too.

You can find "OFF" single wrap bug towelettes, they're great for throwing into your beach bag for the day and won't leak everywhere.

Buy a folding travel hairdryer. Yeah it says all cabins come with a hairdryer - sometimes they don't, sometimes they don't work. ;)

Don't count on that little sample bowl... they change the sample items, you may or may not get what you were counting on (toothpaste is NOT always in it).

Do you really need your debit card if you have a credit card? I am so hesitant to bring my debit anywhere....maybe it's just me.

What good is a debit card to someone without a pin number?

Notebook (pictures run together after a while makes for easy captions

Try taking a picture of the front of the Capers each morning, you'll know where each "section" starts and what day a picture was from.

Post-it notes are great for leaving notes for your cabin steward (or each other)

They can run it as credit without the pin number. If your card is able to be ran that way, I think most of them are now days. My mom works in a bank and most people that get their cards stolen lose the money from being used as credit, there is no pin needed for that.

I don't understand how people only wear a few outfits on a cruise- I mean- do they spend all their time doing laundry or do they spend it in a bathing suit? If you're not a sunbather like me (wore my suit 2x on a 7 day and not ONCE on the cruise ship) then you'll need actual clothes- some people who comment about taking to much litterally live in their bathing suits on the cruise (there's nothing wrong with that if that's what one wants to do).

Happy Cruising!

I never wear a bathing suit, and I am a she. I do bring pants or shorts that are a durable fabric that can be worn numerous times without a problem- denim or a dark color. They don't get dirty and I am careful to hang them overnight. If I do spill something I spot wash. I learned years ago that it is very possible to travel very light, always look (and smell) quite decent, and not spend time doing laundry except one's dainties. A rinse out of those keeps things fresh. I travel with an 18 inch rolling bag and a large tote- and could travel for a month. Formal stuff? The lightest and filmiest dress I can find- packs into nothing and doesn't wrinkle. I hate dragging the closet with me- I have other things I'd rather be doing than decorating myself in the morning. May come from having worn a uniform in school (a loooong time ago)- you get used to and begin to appreciate the fact that nobody is watching what you wear.

I feel you on the uniforms. I went to a Catholic school so from 1-8 grade I had to wear the whole shebang jumpers 1-4 then a skirt 5-8 with specific this and that. But when my freshman year of high school came it was like HOTDOG I got to pick my clothes, this was indeed a big deal for me! I'm 22 now and I'm still a pretty simple person to this day. I'm just the what if packer and no-one will change that I doubt. lol

Good point on the debit card!!!! Thanks I never really thought about it like that!

The debit card is necessary if you need to get more cash. Yes, you can get cash with the credit card, but they charge a fee for cash advances.

Thanks for the list. I'm going to use it to get started on my list.

I have another strategy for packing. I have one suitcase and one carry on bag that I always use. If it doesn't fit, it doesn't go. The suitcase is a the 22 x 14 x 9 rollaboard that is legal for carry on the plane. It worked for two weeks in Europe, it will work for a one week cruise. However we did purchase a fold in half/garment suit case to put our elegant night clothes for three people - Two suits for the men(one each) and two dresses for me along with accessories.

Jaymee, you've done all the right planning. Sit back and enjoy. I was 23 on my first cruise and I didn't plan a thing except buy new clothes - we wore dresses for our embarkation in 1983 on the Tropicale. It was all about the drink of the day, pool time and playing in the ports. Lots of beach, lots of pina coladas and margaritas.

Wow, your list is quite long and complete! Your list for clothes is excessive. The health and beauty can be pared down. You can bring a bottle of Pepto and skip the Immidium as Pepto treats the nausea/heartburn/indigestion/upset stomach/diarrhea ailments!

Clothes I bring the following

Two or Three shirts plus I wear one to to fly in/out of port city

Two dressy tops and one dress pant

Three shorts

Five tank tops (I wear them all--the white ones tend to last one day only)

One capri and wear one to port

Bathing suite with coverup

Nightshirt/socks/bras/undies as needed

The key is to bring clothes that all match in color--black or white pants/capri/short work because they can go with almost all colors with the exception of Navy blue.

Health/Beauty

Body wash and shampoo are provided in the cabins, but I like to bring my own travel size shampoo/conditioner

If most of your health/beauty items ar travel size bottles, then you are OK, but do make a note of what you use and what you can leave behind. I have it down to a large ziplock with suntan lotion/aftersun care (3 bottles total) and two travel bags I got with Time to Spa. I used to have up to six siplock bags, but I know what is a waste of time to bring and what is not.

Happy travels!

You can get money for no fee out of any slot machine in the casino.

You set up a Players Bank on your S&S card. Downlaoad $ to the slot, upload to your Players Bank and go the the cage for the cash.

Lot's easier to do than to explain. Kind of like an ATM.

I would bring the shoe holder. It won't take up too much room and with three girls your age I bet you will need it!;) We used one on our first cruise when it was my husband and two kids in the same room and it worked out well. I would go easy on the shorts/capris and especially the pants.. it will probably be HOT! Just bring enough shirts to match with whatever you bring. No one will know or care if you repeat. Have a wonderful trip!!

LOL! Well we live in Illinois and right now it's snow covered ground and cold. So what better to do one of these days then to get out the suit case and do a trial pack ! lol sounds silly and ridiculous, but when I went to Europe for the 2 weeks I packed and unpacked a ton of times and got rid of a lot of things. So that strategy seemd to work for me and I'll use it again no doubt for this trip.

Do what works for you! It is better to over pack than to need something in the middle of the ocean and not have it.

I always over pack, and someone always needs something that I have.

Just have fun

Cher

3 girls in a cabin? Unless you all have "wash-n-wear" hairstyles, bring the hairdryer! The dryer in the cabin's bathroom is hard-wired into the wall, so you can't take it to the cabin area when somebody else wants to use the bathroom. Trust me, it's easier and more convenient to dry your hair at the vanity mirror in the "living area" of the room than the bathroom.

Also, put me in the "over the door shoe hanger" fan club. Love it.

;)
We're first time cruisers give us a break! I was the same way when I went to Europe for 2 weeks. I'm sure somethings will be taken off during the packing process, some things I'm debating on taking off anyway. We were just looking for a general idea.
I'm chuckling! It looks like my list! And believe it or not it all fits into one check-on bag (weighing less than 50lb) and one carry on bag.

I do take my laptop computer for a couple of reasons:
(1) download pictures each evening into it's appropriately named folder (instant organization),
(2) Email access (most, if not all, Carnival ships are WIFI Bow to aft & port to starboard),
(3) notes of each place we visited (getting old and need to remind myself! :) )

Don't forget your umbrella. I've learned when I carry my umbrella it usually doesn't rain and when the sun is beating down it's great shade! :D

1 bottle of wine per adult

Don't forget to stop newspaper delivery

Most cruise ships now have blow dryers but with 3 girls sharing you may want to have the second one.

Also, I always bring a dead credit card that we use on all our cruises since I do not like using a real one for the cabin safe. Some cruise lines now let you use your sail pass, but I don't like that idea either. If you were to lose your card they can get into your safe.

I think you did a good job on your first list. I think I did not bring the power strip until my second or third one cruise. And the over the door pocket was at least my fith cruise.
I actually have two, one for the closet to keep the RR's in, makes a Great mini bar.

Jaymee,

I'm the same way with packing and everyone we travel with makes fun of me, but they are the same people who ask me first for something they forgot to pack!

My husband made fun of me once for taking a first aid kit on vacation, but he was sure glad I had it when he accidentally sliced his finger open! :p

Do what I do--Cash into the first slot machine, then only that money is used for gambling.

If we want $ for shore excursions we use the slots as an ATM, but we have already budgeted on how much we are using onshore.
