Feliseop Posted January 31, 2010 #1 Share Posted January 31, 2010 Hello, I am very interested in taking the train to Soller. I usually do not do cruise ship excursions. Has anyone done this on their own? If so, how did you get to the train? It appears to leave from the center of town. Thank you for your help. MightyQuinn Posted February 1, 2010 #2 Share Posted February 1, 2010 I hope you get some replies as I'm also interested in the train to Soller. I did a quick search & found this useful thread but the train schedules may be outdated. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=824832&highlight=soller
MightyQuinn Posted February 2, 2010 #3 Share Posted February 2, 2010 And here's the website of the Soller train & tram. But a first-hand report of doing this from/to the cruiseport would still be best! http://www.trendesoller.com/en/cms.php
Feliseop Posted March 2, 2010 Author #4 Share Posted March 2, 2010 Anyone taken the train from Palma to Soller? How did you get to the train station? Is it walkable or did you have to take a taxi or bus? Thanks.:)
keltic Posted March 3, 2010 #5 Share Posted March 3, 2010 Anyone taken the train from Palma to Soller? How did you get to the train station? Is it walkable or did you have to take a taxi or bus? Thanks.:) The train station is located at Plaza de España, in the north of the old town. Not close if you want to walk. Regular buses conect the port with this place. The bus stop is just outside the train station.
tom_uk Posted March 3, 2010 #6 Share Posted March 3, 2010 The #1 bus goes from the cruise port (or goes past it), through the centre of the city, stops at Placa de Espana and then goes on to the airport, so that's one bus you could get from the cruise port to the train station. Trouble is, so will hundreds of other people! Here's my little secret: there's another bus, #3. It take a rather different route through town but also stops at Placa de Espana (or very near it). Near the cruise port it goes along Avenida Joan Miro, so look for that street on your map. Here's the website for the Palma city buses: http://www.emtpalma.es/EMTPalma/Front/index.en.jsp And here's a route map: http://www.emtpalma.es/EMTPalma/Front/imgdb/87216.pdf Coming back from Soller (or Port de Soller) you can use the island bus. Here's their website: http://www.caib.es/sacmicrofront/contenido.do?idsite=330&cont=8783 You'll be interested in the L211 service.
maidut Posted March 5, 2010 #7 Share Posted March 5, 2010 I have a few more questions about the train: 1. how long is the roundtrip if you take the train oneway and the bus back? 2. what isthe estimated cost per person?

Thanks Tom- I found out that the train ride from Palma to Soller is about 1 hour each way. Its 17 euro roundtrip and 10 euro one way. It looks like he bus takes about 40 min from Soller to Palma. Do you know the cost of this bus fare? Or where in Palma the bus takes you/drops you off?
