marvin79 Posted February 3, 2010 #1 Share Posted February 3, 2010 Hello Everyone! I am planning a cruise on POA and was thinking on booking a BA balcony on the back of the ship. Has anyone sailed on one of those before (specially on the POA)? Are we going to be able to take advantage of the views/scenery? Thanks to all. Wineshipper Posted February 3, 2010 #2 Share Posted February 3, 2010 First cruise was on a side balcony on the POA. Second cruise was aft on the Star. If doing POA again, would go for the aft balcony.
flashdog_1 Posted February 3, 2010 #3 Share Posted February 3, 2010 Yes, we had one late November/early December. Since you are traveling at night in the dark, you do not see any scenery, but when you wake up you have a view that is NOT of the industrial port. The balconies are very large, and although ours had one lounger and one chair and table, there was room for twice that amount of furniture. You can sometimes hear the port lecture by the Hawaiian Ambassador which is given in the outdoor buffet directly above the cabin. But it is not loud enough to wake you up! It was nice to be able to jump out of bed and see the red lava and smoke of the live volcano one night. We wanted to hear the lecture given during the Na Pali viewing, so went up on deck. In actuality, the lecture is only for 10-15 minutes at the end of the viewing, so you could comfortably do the viewing standing on your balcony and then go up to the promenade deck for the lecture. There were robes in the cabin but that was the only perk.

You can get a BC one floor down for less - just a thought :)
