fishinfool Posted February 7, 2010 #1 Share Posted February 7, 2010 Will be spending 2 nights post cruise in Seward May 30 - June 2 and would appreciate any feedback/suggestions on Halibut/Salmon fishing charters you may have experienced and input on that timeframe. Thanks
Suzanne123 Posted February 7, 2010 #2 Share Posted February 7, 2010 My DH spent the day with this vendor and had a great time. We stayed at their lodge about five miles from town, but the fishing trip leaves from the harbor. http://www.alaskasaltwaterlodge.com/seward_fishing.htm
Chenega Posted February 7, 2010 #3 Share Posted February 7, 2010 My wife booked twice through The Fish House in Seward and enjoyed both trips. She said luck was far better on the morning trips vs. the afternoons. You can find them at http://www.fishouse.net They represent several charter operators. klingoncruiser Posted February 7, 2010 #4 Share Posted February 7, 2010 Many good charter people there and usually you will not have to pay a "price" for rough seas as the area is fairly protected from the open ocean. Keep in mind that the time of year really makes the fishing. The later in the summer the more fish that are available in general. However the fish come in runs, so check with your choice as to what type of fish you wish to target. Salmon are everywhere, but what kind may be important to you. (We love the silvers which tend to run later than the rest) Halibut are now very problematic as the state now only allows ONE halibut per day. A very overlooked and dismissed fishery is Rockfish. These guys are every where and a hoot to catch. You never know just what you might catch when doing this.
