sunydays Posted January 19, 2005 #1 Share Posted January 19, 2005 I love these boards so far! I'd appreciate any advice you have to offer for a first time cruiser, 27 year old couple doing our honeymoon on the P.G.. Thanks!
Rare WesW Posted January 19, 2005 #2 Share Posted January 19, 2005 KC, also replied to your air ? on earlier thread. For good information on the PG..check the reviews section of CC, just put the name of the ship in PG and you will get a review: e.g.,..KathyZ's review below was from her 19 days in French Polynesia--she loved it. http://www.cruisecritic.com/memberreviews/memberreview.cfm?EntryID=6691 Pls, make sure you tell RSSC before hand you are celebrating your honeymoon, I believe you will get a special ceremony...am sure some veteran honeymooners who have been on the PG will chime in here. Suffice it to say, the PG and FP are a true Romantic Paradise..another couple that is on the second week of our back-to-back in March are renewing their wedding vows..and the PG is doing a special ceremony for them. r/wes
trinidad Posted January 20, 2005 #3 Share Posted January 20, 2005 You will love the Paul Gauguin and the islands. The ship is beautiful and the service outstanding. For romantic dinners, be sure to make reservations for Apicius (La Veranda at night) The ambiance is elegant and the food great. Le Grill in the evening is also nice if it isn't too hot. There you dine sort of outside which can also be romantic. You can also get a table for 2 in L"Etoile if you want or ask to be seated with others. They do a great job of matching you with people you'll enjoy. You can also try room service. At dinner, people tended to dress very nicely, not formal but something you might wear for a dinner in a nice restaurant. You don't need tons of clothes. No one will notice if you wear the same thing twice. Laundry on the ship is very reasonable. It will be hot and shade by the pool is at a premium. You can find shady spots if you are creative. Be sure to bring good sunscreen. Nothing ruins a honeymoon like a sunburn. In port, things are very expensive. Radisson does a great job with their shore excursions so you may want to sign up on-line as some do get booked. The Moto in Taha'a is fabulous, absolutely beautiful. You really don't need to snorkle as you can see fish all over right through the crystal clear water. They have snorkle stuff on board for use at no charge. The Moto in Bora Bora is nice but only has a bar, no food and facilities. If you want a special celebration, order the "embarcation" champagne from room service. It was $25. and very nice. Congratulations and have a wonderful time
