  1. Oldiesfan; we will also be on the Cape to Zanzibar voyage as well as the Puerto Williams to Cape voyage preceding it. Can't wait. Here is what Silversea says about dress on the Explorer, found in the FAQ section of the Silversea home page. We have been on the Silver Cloud expedition for voyages to Svalbard and Cape to Cape and the dress is precisely as described below. For Silversea Expeditions guests sailing aboard Silver Explorer, casual resort wear is appropriate at all times when on board, with the exception of two evenings when Informal attire is requi
  2. Not a future Regent cruise, but Silversea restarted last Friday with Greece itineraries thru mid September on their newest ship, the Silver Moon. Passengers wear their masks while walking inside the ship, take them off walking outside on the ship and take them off while eating/drinking. And on the day passengers embarked (June 18th) the Greek Government relaxed the rules so Silversea guests can go without masks in port and if they choose explore ports on their own. Hopefully, when Regent restarts similar mask rules will be in place.
  3. For a balanced perspective on both lines, suggest you also post this Silversea vs. Regent question on the Silversea board. We have over 200 days on both lines; having about 25 days booked on Silversea this year. We have about 25 days booked on Regent next year with 39 days booked on Silversea in 2022 (Expedition voyages) For classic voyages we will generally pick Regent over Silversea as we have more fun on Regent during the daytime. We enjoy the games and how the officer and entertain staff (they run the games) participates with guests in friendly games. The cruis

  5. And here is your Silversea Silver Moon Provision team now on board the Silver Moon. Was fortunate to cruise with Nino Nierva (in glasses) one of the Provision team members on the Silver Spirit a few years ago, who is now on board the Silver Moon.
  6. Those who are on board the Moon for the Greece voyages are in for a culinary treat, just learned that Chef David, David Bilsland will be on board. Here are a few photos he sent me. And for those reading this thread that will be on the Maiden voyages of the Silver Dawn, Chef David will be on board too.
  7. If you have the chance and like Paella, when in Barcelona off Los Ramblas u might want to try this near two century old restaurant (established 1835) https://www.loscaracoles.es/index.php?lang=fr
  8. Enjoy profiling the hardworking Laundry crew, here is our post from our Mariner 2018 South America cruise: Mariner crew (behind the scenes) profile. We profile behind the scenes (below deck) crew because these vital crew members do not regularly get told thank you by the guests like the wait, bar, reception staff do. It is our way of telling the Mariner Laundry Team: THANK YOU! Today let’s meet the Mariner Laundry team who work together to process more than 10,000 pieces of clothing for the crew and guests per week. This outstanding eleven (11) person team a

  10. Contrary to what another poster in this thread said, Richard Fain of Royal Carribbean according to the owner of our Travel AGency (top seller of luxury brands, #1 seller of Tauck Worldwide since Tauck's inception, and #2 seller of Viking River/Ocean) Richard Fain was the key leader among cruise CEO's in Florida during Covid--not FDR. Concur strongly with giustot and what he posted: It's important to realize just how bad this looks. (ie. FDR getting this bonus). Am incredulous that FDR's Public Relations team let this happen.
  11. We have thoroughly enjoyed about ten crossings, including the maiden crossing of the Silver Spirit in Janurary 2010. We look very forward to enjoying the maiden Med voyage & crossing of the Silver Dawn. Silversea puts their best foot forward in terms of hardware (ship) and software (crew, entertainment) on this voyages. Bet, easily over half of the guests sailing on these crossings are Silversea Alumni (Venetian Society Members) As zqtchas intimates above sea days include a chock full of activities; wine tasting, trivia, singles hosted cocktail party/dinner and fa
  12. If you enjoy a very early riser cup of Joe, use you room service breakfast card that your suite attendant/butler will leave on your bed at turndown service. I write two cappuccino's for 4 am delivery and leave on my suite door before midnight. Alas, no where to get coffee before 6:30am made by Silversea (versus your suite expresso machine if your suite comes with one) unless you use room service.
  13. Am on the Dawn from Barcelona to Ft. Lauderdale which includes your voyage Lisbon to Ft. Lauderdale. Look forward to sharing a coffee with our favorite (former) international hostess, Ana Menor in Barcelona before boarding. bitob, in my experience (about 15 SS cruises) Silversea will have a The Captains Welcome/formal night the first sea day--bet Nov 20th, and second to last night on board will be another formal night/Captains Farewell, bet Nov 30th.
  14. Solitarycruiser, am on the Dawn from Barcelona to Ft. Lauderdale. Since I like to walk have booked Premier Tours for their half day walking tour in Lisbon on November 9th. Tho, won't be able to go if Silversea still requires guests to take their ship tours only. We did a full day Lisbon private tour with the owner of Premier, Jorge Bras back in January 2010 for the Spirit's maiden crossing. Jorge hit a grand slam for this Lisbon tour; we have used him half dozen times since and referred over a dozen cruise friends to him the past 11 years.
  15. Absolutely will Mary Ann. . We have hosted Jorge on board the Spirit for Lunch and whenever we disembark in Lisbon he transfers us to the airport without regard to his schedule and insists on not charging us. Mary Ann, his tour company, Premier Tours (like most other travel companies (e.g. cruiselines) was devastated by Covid, so we're happy to give him our business.
