huskie11 Posted February 8, 2010 #1 Share Posted February 8, 2010 Am on Mar 14th cruise to East Carib Leaving from Ft. Lauderdale. Will be flying into area on evening of 11th. Recommendations for lodging for under $200 per night between Ft Lauderdale and South Beach? Would like to be able to visit south beach area with ease if possible. Phxazzcruisers Posted February 8, 2010 #2 Share Posted February 8, 2010 We stay at the Embassy Suites in Fort Lauderdale. It is an older property but usually has a great rate, has free cocktails in the evenings and a great free breakfast in the morning.

Lauderdale is far from South Beach, so you would want to focus on South Beach hotels. It is a really fun area, so you would not even need a car if you book a hotel right in South Beach; you can easily walk to the beach, tons of restaurants, shopping and entertainment. You can get really good rates for hotels on Priceline (if party of 1-2) or Hotwire (if 3-4 will be sharing a hotel room). You do not get to select your specific hotel (you find out immediately after booking) but you do get to pick the neighborhood (so you can choose South Beach) and the star level of the hotel (so you can book a nice hotel). You often get anywhere from 30%-70% off the cheapest available price - so by giving up picking the specific hotel you have tremendous savings. The transastion is non-refundable, so be aware of that and you do not get to pick out specific type of room (i.e. two queens vs. king) - but the hotel will usually accomodate your preference if they are able to when you arrive. It looks like there is a 3.5-star hotel in South Beach available for $155 for those dates; you could probably get it 15% of so cheaper on Priceline. Have a great trip.
