Port of Miami and checked liquor and wine

Recommended Posts

If you cannot afford the booze during your holiday, you cannot afford your holiday.

If the amount of liquor you have is a measure of your holiday stay home and drink to your heart's content in your trailer...gawd, what a bunch of redneck whiners...geez...enough all ready...

Just saying....

dude... it's about distribution. The more I can smuggle in, the more I'll drink, the more I'll spend in the casino.

The casino can get me for a $100 in an hour on a given hour. The bar, $25...

the less time I'm in the casino, the more time Carnival spends pleasing you and G'ma

If the scanner can tell water from gin, then it can see liquids in rum runners. Someone else said they think if you put the rum runners in a cowboy boot for instance, it cant see them thru the leather. So depends on how you pack those rum runners.

Someone who works at the port of galveston for RCL said she can also tell if its water or gin you got in your water bottle in your carry on by shaking it. Booze bubbles and water doesnt ... to those who wondered why open water might be thrown out.

am i the only one who has no clue what the heck a rum runner is, lol?:p

Eeh, I'm all about saving money.

I'm going to bring my own bottled water (for ports and such) for the same reason. I'd like to bring a case of beer so we can save some money (or my husband can have a couple more beers to drink).

I wouldn't be suprised if they're confiscating people who brought an entire liquor cabinet because that puts them at risk if someone gets alchohol poisoning. However, that doesn't mean that they're going to take your case of beer.

Regardless the magic X-ray machine that knows what types of liquid you have in your suitcases are is absurd.

Jus't returned from a 4 day on the Destiny leaving Mia on 2/4. Everyone's checked liquor, in any form and packaged in any way was removed from their suitcase and delivered the last night of the cruise. I had read that Mia and San Juan were starting new procedures, but I am here to report that you can only bring wine onboard by bringing it with you in your carry on. One bottle. New scanning devices in Mia pick up liquor in bags and even distinguish between water. vodka and gin. Different colors for each liquid. The last night when it was delivered to our room, the amount they were delivering was astounding!! It almost ruins the fun of cruising..

Funny.. we were on that cruise and all security asked was: Real or Artificial???? I guess next time only two liters instead of three ~~!!~~ 107.gif

You are absolutely correct, the X-ray machine cannot distinguish what type of liquid you have in a container your suitcase, let alone even detect if there is liquid in the container.

I have to get the DW one of those...:D

At $29.95 it's a lot cheaper than a boob job, and will pay or itself after 4 drinks on your first cruise....

And it is claimed it feels like real skin.....

Let's see how Carnival handles THIS ~~!!~~;)

And you can refill it at each port.....

SMUGGLERS UNITE !!!!!

why is it that you are SO excited about this? do you have a personal issue w/ people who consume alcohol? you seem to be VERY vocal in this area, and i just wonder why???

Maybe there just needs to be more security sweeps:rolleyes:

Actually it is not as absurd as you think.

Water would show up as an inorganic color on the monitor as it has no organics in it.

Alcohol would show up as an organic color on the monitor.

You can also run a container of salt and sugar through an x-ray machine and tell which one is which.

In reality, it is the bottle shape which probably gave it away. They left the water and took the alcohol.
