Traveler353 Posted February 11, 2010 #5 Share Posted February 11, 2010 Most of the passangers that I have ever seen oboard Carnival ship seem to be having a pretty fun time. Then again just like here there are always some that only find the negative in everything.
Rockportgirl Posted February 11, 2010 #6 Share Posted February 11, 2010 It can be whatever kind of ship you want it to be... fun ship, relaxing ship, gambling ship, music ship... it is what you make it.
Calker Posted February 11, 2010 #7 Share Posted February 11, 2010 We have sailed Disney, NCL, and Carnival. My husband tells the story that on Carnival there are activities scheduled to start at midnight so the ship doesn't really sleep until 3:00am. On Disney and NCL as soon as the main show ended the ship ended - nothing to do after 10:00pm.
osiebosie Posted February 11, 2010 #8 Share Posted February 11, 2010 Well, it's certainly not a boring ship! But then, I've never been on any boring ship. Wish I was on one now. My fingers are so cold I can barely type. Shay
Interrogation Room Posted February 11, 2010 Author #9 Share Posted February 11, 2010 The reason I asked is because I read alot of bad reviews about people not enjoying their cruise. This will be our first cruise so I want to find out as much information as I can.

Also - keep in mind that people are more apt to sound off or write about bad experiences than positive ones.

This will be our first cruise so I want to find out as much information as I can. My recomendation is to ignore all the reviews and go with an open mind. Don't dwell on the minor hickups and be intent on having a great time. No cruise is always perfect but they all beat a day in the office.:D

okwriter Posted February 11, 2010 #15 Share Posted February 11, 2010 Define "fun." I took my first cruise last month with two friends. I'm 52 years old, and I can't remember the last time I had so much fun!
caribbean dreams Posted February 11, 2010 #16 Share Posted February 11, 2010 Read the Carnival board awhile, if you decide you like the magority of people here, odds are you will like a Carnival ship because I think its more the people on the ship that makes a great cruise. gator919 Posted February 11, 2010 #17 Share Posted February 11, 2010 We will be on the same cruise, and I dont care what it takes, IT WILL BE A FUN SHIP! I am close to the port and I see the pride come and go every sunday while I sit here in 40 inches of snow and ice. Once again It will be a fun ship.... gator919 Posted February 11, 2010 #18 Share Posted February 11, 2010 Sorry, I only looked at your sail date not the ship. I will be on the Pride. Yours will still be a fun ship.
PJNJcruise5 Posted February 11, 2010 #19 Share Posted February 11, 2010 My husband and I agree that Carnival has more to offer at night than RCL. There is always a place to eat or bar open late. But any cruise is what you make it.
doe326 Posted February 11, 2010 #20 Share Posted February 11, 2010 If you listen to all the bad reviews of anything you'll never want to try it. I take the bad ones and good ones with a grain of salt. My intention is to go and have a good time regardless of what the reviews are. I've yet to have a bad cruise. Had some things I wasnt' crazy about happen but didn't let it ruin my cruise or land vacation.
CruiserJul Posted February 11, 2010 #21 Share Posted February 11, 2010 Been on Disney- FUN, Princess-Laid Back, RCL-FUN and Carnival -FUN. ENJOYED all of the cruises.....Now shop for BEST PRICE....( usually Carnival ) I have to agree with MrPayroll (love the name) that many cruise lines are fun but we've always booked Carnival because of price. Everyone in my family has fun on a cruise -plenty of activities - plenty of food to find and no one has to drive!! If you like to stay up late and have things to do sounds like Carnival has the edge there.
kyrisong1 Posted February 11, 2010 #22 Share Posted February 11, 2010 I've never had a bad cruise, but I did find Carnival to have later night entertainment, Celebrity is "over with" by midnight. So if your a late night person you might be happier with Carnival, if not I think it depends on what you are looking for in a line. Carnival has a great product at a great price, and the roll calls can hold some awesome people if you join in the talk. Cheers, Carole
lillian marie Posted February 11, 2010 #23 Share Posted February 11, 2010 There will always be critical, cranky folks. With a vacation people often plan and save for it for a long time. They then can create unrealistic expectations of the vacation experience. Then when they get home they feel let down. This happens for some whether the trip is a cruise or other type of trip. A friend of mine who was a travel agent told me when we 1st booked CCL cruises 25 years ago that Carnival called itself a fun ship because there are fun activities for all age levels. On a CCL ship anyone can find an activity that they will enjoy, these range from organized kids activities, bingo and games, art, swimming, gyms, family style shows, adult comedy shows, casino gaming, bars, dancing and the list could go on and on. The food is abundent, very good and free. A cruise is like anything else in life, it is what you make of it.
Litewait Posted February 11, 2010 #24 Share Posted February 11, 2010 Been on 14 Carnival cruises ( 15-17 booked) and they have all been fun.:D The One on RCCL was the least fun but still ok. Don't be shy, think outside the box and you will have a great time. I'm a single mom and I have done some things that were totally out of character because my kids wanted me to and it has made the best memories! I did the Survivor games because my son then 10 begged me to put my name in and it was drawn. Came in 2nd!! We have the ship video of us together. Wonderful memories! I've done Austin Powers dance classes with him when was 6. And name that tune (on stage when he was probably 9). They were a blast and made for a lot of FUN. There are plenty of things to do and have a great time. I always say "i'm never gonna see these people again most likely" so I'm gonna try it all. On the other hand one of my very best friends I met on a cruise! Weve cruise twice since together and have 2 more booked together! Life is what you make it! Have a great time!
