Has anyone done the St Kitts scenic rail tour?

I have researched the ports of call board on this and people have mixed views, some saying don't miss it and others saying it's boring. Has anyone been on it through Seabourn? We have reserved it but don't want to waste 2 hours if there is a better private tour to reserve. Thanks for any advice.

The comment that I heard on one of our trips...an hour or less would have been okay...two hours no.

Margbem - we looked at the St. Kitt's tour as well, and finally decided that there were too many folks saying it's just too long.

We've booked a private driver to see the sites, and then have lunch at Rawlins Plantation (Which is supposed to have a very good, and very authentic creole lunch buffet). You are welcome to join us, if the driver has a vehicle to suit.

You can email us at autumnhillfarm at msn dot com.

If you like looking at sugarcane, you'll love the railway tour. A better bet for you, because you are already driving on the "wrong" side pf the road, is to rent a car and self-tour . Rawlins is a genteel but slighhtly dated hostelry. It's high on a hill and can boast of some nice views. Even better ones are available from the Fort--forget the name, but it is prominent in local history. If you have the time, you might take the ferry to Nevis--there's a fast one that takes 45 minutes or less , as I recall--and rent a car there. Nevis boasts a bunch of smallish inns that used to be the greathouses of plantations. I know saeveral df them have local food lunches with creole influences. Also, there is one (and only one) road that circles this small island. You can make the trip in a couple of hours. For the names of inns, check Tripadvisor and the Nevis web site. The only one I can recall is Montpelier Plantation, but there are several others. Both St. Kitts and Nevis are attractive islands, but the nod must go to Nevis. It's an old volcanic island, with a central mount often wreathed in mists, with jungle climbing up the sides--except for the Four Seasons golf course. Oh, yes-- St.Kitts has a couple of local art galleries off the main square that are worth a look.
