Local restaurant

I would like suggestions from anyone for a good local place to eat. We do not want a chained tourist place. Would like more of a local place to see what real Cayman Island food is. Don't really know what is popular there.

If you will be up by the turtle farm, I personally would go to the Cracked Conch. Great views and fun to try the different (yummy :)) versions of conch, especially the conch platter appetizer.

Go out of the port area, turn left and walk 100 yards to Rackman's for great conch fritters and Caybrew beer. Good luck!:)

Local food is served at many smaller restaurants which don't cater specifically to the tourism market. Typical island entrees include:

 

Cow foot

Ox tail

Curried Chicken

Salt Beef and Beans

Jerk pork

Jerk chicken

Cayman style fish

Curried goat

Stewed chicken

Steamed fish

 

Check out Champoin House II on Eastern Avenue or Corita's Copper Kettle on Edward Street as places which are local favorites.
