Anyone recently off the Triumph???? I am looking for a recent review.

Please do tell the good, the bad the ugly. Best bars? Is there a piano sing-a-long bar on board?

I posted a "sort of a" review about 2 weeks ago, but it didn't mention the bars.

We didn't go to any. Outside the casino they had Karaoke.

You can use the Search button and find Triumph reviews with it.

I am recently off the Triumph this past Saturday so please bear with me if I dont make much sense right now. Im still rocking from the ship and I am from NOLA so at the moment I am pretty Mardi Gras'd out also! We were on the Superbowl cruise and it was amazing to watch the Saints beat the Colts while sailing through the Gulf!

This is my 6th Carnival Cruise having cruised before on the Inspiration, Conquest and Fantasy 3 times. I had read reviews right before going that complained about the layout of the ship and sewer smells. I did not find any problems with the layout, it was almost exactly as I remembered the layout of the Conquest (my memory may not serve me too well being that I havent sailed the Conquest since she first came to New Orleans.)

As far as the bars go, we spent most of our nights with Peter in the Piano Bar. There was a pretty regular group that would come in every night along with a few new faces. Peter is from Toronto and by the end of the week we had him singing David Allen Coe and Hank Williams Jr! Sing-a-long Piano Bars are by far my favorite hang outs on cruise ships and at home also! We usually had pre-dinner drinks at the World's Bar which is the casino bar. Interesting singer named Brian there most nights. Not the best singer by any means, but somewhat of an interesting fellow! The have the California Wine Bar which is right next to the Piano Bar and across from the Dance club. Nice circular bar, small, didnt hang out here much because it was non smoking and I was with a group of mostly smokers.

There is a Sports Bar on the other side of the Casino, you are also able to get to it from the atrium elevators. Somewhat small so if you are not a smoker I do not recommend it. It tended to be very smoky. I stumbed upon the Cigar Bar on the second to last night of the trip. I wish I would have found it earlier because it had a very cool ambiance to it. The internet cafe is actually located inside of it, which I found strange. It is called the Oxford Bar and is on the Atlantic deck.

I had some of the best service that I have ever had on any cruise that I have been on. In turn, the food was probably the worst. I have never claimed that cruise ships have amazing food, being raised in NOLA we are hard to please. Even the usual can't go wrong burger from the Lido Grill was not up to par. Usually cold and the buns were hard. I tended to order from the New York deli most days for lunch and that was pretty decent. In the dining room I found that the steaks were somewhat tough and never cooked the way the were requested. But like I said, I've never claimed that cruise fare was amazing so none of this is a deal breaker for me.

I did notice slight sewage smells sometimes walking around the ship, but with a ship of that size with that many people it can't always smell like roses, right? We met alot of amazing people who worked on the ship and were vacationing along with us. It's always sad to leave a new cruise family, but hopefully I will sail on the Triumph many more times and reconnect with some new friends!

There is a very good group led by the infamous Jetskier on board the Triumph right now.

I assure you that you will see some reviews in the next week.

Also, there were two very good reviews of the January Western cruise a couple of weeks back (not conchead...he had a good one also.)

We sailed on the Triumph a few months ago and were very pleased. There is definitely a piano bar as our room was right above it. The first night we laid awake listening to the sounds of Hank Jr, Jimmy Buffet, etc. It seemed to be a very lively crowd. We didn't notice it as much after the first night.

The Triumph is well-maintained, but there is definitely the smell that was previously mentioned. Specifically around the putt putt course, and in one of the halls. It's not noticeable all of the time. Or maybe, like the piano bar, we just got used to it. :)

I thought the food and service were both excellent.
