Baths on your own vs ship excursions

Hi All,

Is it easy and safe to go on your own to the Baths or better thorugh the ship? I know its cheaper - but dont want any hassel or be late?

For the most part - yes it is easy and safe and cheaper to go to the Baths on your own.

However the above is dependent on the ship's port times. If the ship is going to be in port most of the day (say 9-6 or 8-5) - then I would recommend doing The Baths on your own. But if the ship is there - from (for example) 7-2 - do it through the ship - the ferry times may not be conducive to doing it on your own in that time frame.

ALWAYS make sure that you can get a return ferry that will get you back to the ship AT LEAST 1/2 hour before the ship leaves (and preferably ONE HOUR before the ship leaves)

So if your ship leaves at 4PM and the ferry leaves Virgin Gorda at 3:00PM - that is WAY TOO CLOSE for comfort since the ferry ride will take 30-45 minutes and you still have to get back to the ship. In that case you should be on a ferry that leaves VG - NO LATER than 2:30 (2PM even better).

Either ferry company - Speedy's or Smith's is fine - you just pick the one with the "best" schedule for your needs.
