Bug bites & Belize

I have read about the mosquito bites and the diseases they cause in Belize. I am a chemotherapy patient and have a private tour booked. We are going on a bus on a city tour with a 1 hour stop at Altun Ha ruins. Do I have to worry about bug bites at the ruins. I stayed away from any jungle, river boat type tours and thought I would be ok on this one but now I am not sure. I don't want to pick up any disease as my resistance is low. Thanks

Your case is unique; is DEET ok for you to use? is your immune system even capable of developing immunity with a vaccine at this time? are you willing to risk it for the life experience? etc.

I would check with your oncologist.

Also, most university medical centers have travel medicine specialists who are great resources.
