Help with Miami area and hotel

My husband and I are cruising from Miami in June. We stayed at HI POM last year for our cruise and visited Bayside. Are the other downtown hotels, Hilton, Doubletree and MArriot Biscayne far from Bayside? Are they within walking distance and a safe area to walk?

 

Would you recommend a different area maybe? We had thought about Coconut Grove. We are mid 40's if that might make a distance. We will be flying in the day before around 11 am into MIA. Thanks ahead for your help!

The Biscayne Blvd area hotels are about a mile from Bayside. It is walkable, or you can catch a cab or the metromover train. If you have already stayed and done the downtown thing, I'd suggest trying Coconut Grove - nice hotels, lots of shopping and dining options, & very walkable. Good luck!:)
