Another cell phone question

If Verizon charges $2.49 per minute while at sea, are there any additional charges added to that by Carnival? Same question for texting - .50 to send and .05 to receive - any hidden charges from Carnival?

 

Sorry - I know these have been asked before but the answers are so confusing and seem to be based on carrier....

 

Any first hand knowledge would be appreciated.

You're not using Carnival's service to make the call, but your cell phone providor. You will only be charged by Verizon.

BTW make sure you CALL Verizon and have them turn on international dialing before you leave so you can make calls and texts.

While you are at sea the only tower IS the ship tower so pretty sure that the Verizon International Plan won't help you there since Verizon doesn't have any signal at sea. If you use your device at sea you'd be roaming on the ship service provided by Cellular @ Sea. The service will be billed to your Verizon account and you can expect to be paying the ship rates - $2.49/min voice, $0.50/outbound text, $0.05/inbound text without any other hidden fees.

 

The International Plan will help while you are in port if Verizon has roaming agreements there (check their website to confirm coverage and rates) and those rates are much better than ship rates.
