gerry48 Posted March 4, 2010 #1 Share Posted March 4, 2010 hi, wife and I have only been on one cruise which was on carnival splendor. we like to spend an hour or 2 a day playing the slots. would splendor be a pretty average casino or do other ships have nicer ones? the splendor had a small no smoking area but it was so small it was quite useless. yogi2929 Posted March 4, 2010 #2 Share Posted March 4, 2010 Most casino onboard are on the small side. If you are looking for a non-smoking shipboard casino, the Carnival Paradise casino is usually non-smoking during the 4day cruise. The Paradise also sails out of Long Beach. Last few times I've been on her (1/10, 3/09, 1/09) The casino has been non-smoking on the 4day. Smoking is allowed on the 3day.
cereus Posted March 6, 2010 #6 Share Posted March 6, 2010 Celebrity Equinox & Solstice both have large non-smoking casinos. Really great. We played Texas Holdem tournaments for $60. buy-in. They hold 2 or 3 each day. Had a great time. Most casinos in others ships were so smokey you could hardly walk thru .

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO: The largest and nicest casino's I have played in on a cruise ship is the Triumph of Carnival Cruise Line. And the Constellation of Celebrity Cruise Line. NicoLee Posted March 7, 2010 #8 Share Posted March 7, 2010 Oasis of the seas has the largest casino, and is the largest cruise ship. The casino has non smoking areas. They have mulitple poker tables, high roller section and more slot machines. Oasis has the most of everything imaginable on a cruise ship.
franl24fan Posted March 15, 2010 #9 Share Posted March 15, 2010 In my opinion this is the best casino afloat for these reasons :(1) it is 100% non smoking all the time (2) well lit and cheery (3) the most penny machines afloat, and they are current video slots with bonus rounds. On most ships I can sneak in right at opening and have about half an hour before the smoke drives me out.

mjane1999 Posted May 26, 2010 #11 Share Posted May 26, 2010 So far in my travels the one closest to a real casino was on the Equinox. The largest by far, beautiful casino, and lots of new slot games!

On most ships I can sneak in right at opening and have about half an hour before the smoke drives me out. I was just on the Rhapsody. Loved the non-smoking part. It's not a large casino since Rhapsody is not a mega-ship. The casino was okay and had a nice selection of slots (they have 165 slot machines, don't ask how I know that :)) and table games. The staff was nice. But I didn't like the craps table. It was mini-craps (meaning sort of half a layout, and only one dealer doing the whole thing) and the dealers really didn't know what they were doing. They were nice enough, and I managed to make a little money, but it was kind of tedious and stressful dealing with the dealer mistakes (had to watch all your bets constantly to make sure they paid you!). There was a very experienced player who used to be a dealer and was playing a fairly complicated strategy (he was also mostly losing, as far as I could tell) and he basically had to constantly be telling the dealers what to do. I can't imagine how the poor dealer would have coped if the table had been full and several players were doing high-maintenance betting strategies! Anyway, I'd still sail on that ship again, but there are definitely better ship casinos out there if craps is your game. - Nancy
EmTeeNesters Posted July 17, 2010 #13 Share Posted July 17, 2010 Oasis of the seas has the largest casino, and is the largest cruise ship. The casino has non smoking areas. Kinda like having a non-peeing area in a pool.
Abear2 Posted July 20, 2010 #14 Share Posted July 20, 2010 I just got off the NCL Epic on Saturday and OMG the casino is huge ! They too have a non-smoking area which is far apart from the smoking area. It's in a corner and the coldest spot on the ship, but it was great not having people smoke in my face ! ;):p The casino is really spread out. What a beautiful ship. LA_CA_GAL Posted August 14, 2011 #22 Share Posted August 14, 2011 None of the ship's casinos are like being in Vegas.... The cruise ship casinos will not take all my money? That is what happens to me in Vegas, Atlantic City, etc.
Nevertoolate Posted August 15, 2011 #23 Share Posted August 15, 2011 OASIS has been the largest one for us so far. Has quite a large non-smoking area. The only time I really smelled a lot of smoke was going down the stairs from the promenade. If I'm winning, I don't mind smoke at all!!!
Casino Player Posted August 15, 2011 #24 Share Posted August 15, 2011 You got that right! HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO CRUISE4JANE: However, when you are in Las Vegas, Reno, New Jersey or anyplace else where there are land based casinos you are not on a cruise.
