mrpayroll Posted March 5, 2010 #27 Share Posted March 5, 2010 We ate in the MDR exclusively except for our port days. We loved the selection and quality of the food, and of course, being waited on! Same here, unless we have an EARLY excursion. Helps from overeating to us. Hours for B'fast on Dream in Dining Room were from 8am till 10 am.. Cruise, J.D. Posted March 5, 2010 #28 Share Posted March 5, 2010 We eat most meals in the MDR. Much more relaxing for us when we are waited on. One exception is if the ship has Sur Mer. I will hit that place at least once.
Sargent_Schultz Posted March 5, 2010 #29 Share Posted March 5, 2010 Breakfast and Lunch in the MDR are open seating. You can try requesting a specific type of table. The Breakfast menu hasn't changed in forever: http://www.zydecocruiser.com/CarnivalDream/GrandMed/Menus/MDR/Breakfast.jpg Much the same for the Door Hanger Card for breakfast room service: On the Pride sailings there are 3 sea days, so 3 lunches in the MDR. Probably these (L1, L2, and L3): http://www.zydecocruiser.com/CarnivalDream/GrandMed/Menus/MDR/L10109.jpg http://www.zydecocruiser.com/CarnivalDream/GrandMed/Menus/MDR/L20207.jpg http://www.zydecocruiser.com/CarnivalDream/GrandMed/Menus/MDR/L30207.jpg

Can you get a bagel toasted? Also, I don't see sugar listed as a condiment. Can you get sugar for your coffee?

Can you get sugar for your coffee? Every bagel I ordered came toasted, but doesn't hurt to request it be toasted. Sugar isn't list, but has always come with my coffee. Luckysll Posted March 5, 2010 #33 Share Posted March 5, 2010 The menus for each day's lunch and dinner are posted outside the dining room. I usually eat breakfast in the dining room and I check out the menu for lunch as I leave to decide whether I'll eat there or at the buffet. G&TQ Posted March 5, 2010 #34 Share Posted March 5, 2010 I am an early Bird and wake up about 4:30 every morning. I can usually go back to sleep for a few more hours at home but on a cruise I can’t wait to get up and go. I start off about 6:30 if I can make myself wait and then hit lido for toast or fruit or bagel and sit somewhere and watch the water. I love on the Fantasy you can sit on the aft deck out in the open but shade… Then when Hubby is we might go to the MDR for breakfast. Lunch all depends on when we get hungry and what we are hungry for. Dinner is almost always MDR. In 3 cruises we missed MDR one night. Came in from port (we went to an AI) and thought we would take a little nap. Well sun, food and drink made the nap run about 4 hours longer then it needed to be. We woke up about 11pm went and grabbed some pizza then wandered the ship and went back to bed. Here is a site you can check out all of the menus. http://www.bookccl.com/irman/bookccl/sections/shipboard/DiningOnboard_master.html
T&Dcruisers Posted March 5, 2010 #35 Share Posted March 5, 2010 We love the goat cheese pizza, so we had that almost every day. :)
bean-si Posted March 5, 2010 #36 Share Posted March 5, 2010 I also only eat breakfast in the MDR. I'm not a morning person, and would rather trust some one else to bring me my food. My only change to the delicous breakfast? Those tiny tiny little coffee cups drive me crazy. I mainline coffee :) two sips and you need a refill. As soon as I can, I hit the shops , and buy a HUGE SHIP COFFEE MUG. The waiters always laugh the first morning, but, hey...I'm saving them from umpteen trips back to pour more coffee for me. Wheresthesalt Posted March 5, 2010 #37 Share Posted March 5, 2010 We leave for our 1st cruise in a little over 2 weeks and it just occurred to me I don't know what the options are for breakfast and lunch. Is the MDR open for both? If so what kinds of food do they serve and what times? Do you sit at your assigned dinner table? What does everyone else do for these meals? Buffet, room service? The last thing you will need to worry about is when and where to eat....There is usually something, somewhere to eat 24hrs, well maybe not 24 but at least 16. :D
okwriter Posted March 5, 2010 #38 Share Posted March 5, 2010 We prefer breakfast in the dining room ;as it is more relaxing than the lido .However ,if you want to get off the ship early to tour then go to the lido . Again we prefer the dining room for lunch except when the ship is in port . We also find that we can always control our portions better in a sit down vs a buffet . Dinner ,we opt many times for the speciality restaurants aboard ship for the better quality of foods ,presentation & overall service. That is not saying that the food isn't good in the MDR .It is just our preference Portion control? You means we're supposed to control our portions?
