travel_lady Posted March 8, 2010 #1 Share Posted March 8, 2010 Can someone please give me information on online checkin? I understand it needs to be done more than 72 hours before sailing. Is that true? Also understand we can see our dining assignment in online checkin. Is that true? Thanks for the info!
Debbie-in-florida Posted March 8, 2010 #2 Share Posted March 8, 2010 Yes, go to MSC site, click "cruise guide" and then "web check in." If you try to do it much in advance, it will not recognize your booking number; just keep trying. It will definitely say early or late seating, don't remember if it gave a table number. The check in was glitchy for me. I kept trying and finally got it all, including printing my luggage tags. I suggest you print them on heavier paper, like brochure paper, so they won't tear off. Happy cruising!

Happy cruising! I haven't been able to find anything about luggage tags on the web check in. Last year, we got them at the port and had to sit there and fill them out. Any help would be aprreciated. If you can print them out, use regular printer paper and "laminate" them by using clear shipping tape. We did this on a CCL cruise a couple of years ago, and it worked great. Debbie-in-florida Posted March 8, 2010 #4 Share Posted March 8, 2010 Great idea about tape. I can no longer get in the website as I no longer have a booking number but I advise you to keep trying. It is not user-friendly but they are in there. I THINK I remember a "download" option. Good luck.
tc80tc80 Posted March 9, 2010 #5 Share Posted March 9, 2010 I just did the checkin on the MSC USA site and there was no option to print out luggage tags. Only passport info and meal times.

Happy cruising! I am able to access the MSC Express check-in, 26 days prior to sailing. If you did have an option for printing luggage tags when you sailed with them, that's no longer available. You will be mailed your Embarkation Ticket, luggage tags, and a booklet from MSC about what to expect, etc on your MSC cruise in a nice blue MSC pouch. This is in the US. I don't know if it's the same in Europe or elsewhere.
B744 Posted March 28, 2010 #8 Share Posted March 28, 2010 Can you still use the web check in if you do not have a pass port? Thanks No. This is highlighted in Red when I was using the web check-in:" You must have your Passport with you at the time of embarkation in order to utilize MSC Express Check-in Services." Debbie, even if you have a booking number, once you've completed the Express Check-in, you can no longer access it, hence the reason it's important to print and extra copy or two, ....and no, there is no "download" option. vijoge Posted March 28, 2010 #10 Share Posted March 28, 2010 We could not use Express Check-in because our granddughters do not have passports. I noticed there is an express line at the port but there really wasn't anyone using it when we arrived. We received e-tickets only, no cruise docs in an envelope, and no luggage tags. I started to make luggage tags before I left home but I never got around to it. I'll do it next time, though. It was just a white tag with POESIA printed on it and we had to add our name and cabin number. Not big deal and didn't take long to do. We found out our table assignment when we received our cruise card at check in.

I'm surprised to learn you did not receive your Passenger Ticket, Luggage Tags, and the MSC booklet in a MSC logo'd pouch. I'm sailing with them next month and I received all the documents for myself and my clients in the mail. You normally don't know your dining table assignment until you receive your cruise card at check-in anyway. Btw, I enjoyed reading your review. Thanks for taking the time. Maybe MSC is cutting back. I also received only e-tickets by email. Nothing else.
